I just put 2 Dwarf BN plecos and a Clown pleco in a 40 gallon fry tank. all are about 3 inches with the clown pleco being the biggger of the 3....has anyone ever kept a trio like this or heard of any problems keeping these 3 together?

I have no problems with mine being kept together, Clown plecs are territorial but only to others of thier species, if you give PLENTY of nooks and crannys you will be fine. by the way be prepared not to see the clowns they are very secretive, I love mine and when I see one it's like spotting big foot! Clowns are omnivorous so make sure to give them flakes or or anything with some protein in it. Good luck with your trio!! Ohh Where did you pick them up at??

i havent seen the clown out and about in months, he is too busy eating wood and pooping, if it wasnt for his mass amount of poo I would think he was dead......the dwarf bn's however are seen daily....

I have had the clown since feb. of this year and he cleans up any pellets that my other fish dont eat.......this is my second go around with BN's my first reg BN died 2-3 weeks after I bought him from keller farms, the Dwarf BN's i got from Mematrix last weekend

Bristlenose are almost bullet proof, what do you think may be going wrong? I have hundreds of them, have them in every tank for algea control. They do well with africans, but can be picked on if small sometimes. I keep browns, albino and albino long fins if you want to try them again.

i think the first BN was just a sick fish he was in a tank with 2 H. Carpintis, he was always hanging out and I never saw any aggression from the other fish and then one day he was dead.....

Zucchini dinner, eh? Did you do anything special to it? or just put it in the tank raw?

How long should I leave the zucchini in the tank? ... do they only eat the centers, and not the rind?

Jaws has lived on leftover for the last 14 yrs.....he doesn't like anything else!

I will drop a slice on a fork at night and remove it the next day before it gets gushy.

Hehe, the cichlids don't let anything hit the gravel (besides poop!) - so I don't think there are any leftovers for poor Dyson to eat. The cichlids even gobble up the algae wafers that are supposed to be for him and I have to directly place shrimp pellets in the Syn's cubby to even hope that he get's something to eat.

Mine will nibble a little on the zucchini, but only my BN's will eat it. The big common pleco won't touch it for some reason!

kSpieler

Dyson just ate the seedy part in the center, left the harder white stuff and the rind. I saw the greedy cichlids pick at it, but it didn't look like they actually ate any.

i think something is wrong with my clown pleco, he is just chilling out in the open on a big piece of drift wood, i have seen more of him today than the last year that i have owned him

poel_19
