Hmmm is there an expiration on Ich treatment?
Maybe the meds in the water plus her going into labor had something to do with it? Like "open wound" allowed too much meds in at once. Maybe it was just a complication during labor.
Very sad, I'm sorry for your loss. Definitely keep us posted if you find something that you suspect is the problem.

well CLown loaches are scaless(sp) fish so they usually have ick way before the symtoms show. If you raised the temp up too quickly it could have shocked them along with the stress of having ick could have been the culprit..how high did you raise the temp and how quickly??

Ich is tough on loaches, the rid ich is about the best I know to use, maybe other treatments work better on loaches. The rid Ich has a milder form of M green than the regular salts, so its better on loaches, you can kill the loaches w regular if you are not carefull.

I keep the other on hand and some formalin in case I need it, but for loaches and other scaleless you have to be carefull or use the rid ich. I had a touch of ich early tonight in two of my conected geo tanks, Im raising the temp and added a good amount of m green and fomalin salt, and they seem much better already. When I get ich I will usually treat 3 to 4 times with a day and a 75% water change in between treatments, seems to work for me so far,

Yeah the CL are fine....getting a little better, but I don't know why the African died. I turned it up from 80-87....but of course with 300 gal of water it's not there yet!
As far as labor Andrew, I know you don't keep African's but they are Mouth brooders....so there is no labor involved.
Arnold...are you telling me you add 5 ml per gallon of water....3-4 times a day? And then a 75% in between treatments? You kinda lost me there! Thanks everyone!

I mixed up a stock solution of m green (1 GALLON ) ABOUT A YR AGO VIA NOVAQ RATIO FOR M GREEN NOT RID ICH, oops cap locks... I just dump in about 1/4 cup per 75 gallons with some formalin and let it work a few hrs, then if the green has mostly gone away I may add more, I will treat them heavy 2 hrs before I do a water (75%) change in the morning. (I only treat heavy for a bad infestation). 2nd day I just add a bit of salt, 75 gallons I use about 2 or 3 cups in increments of a cup over the day. Then start over again the next day. I found if I treat continuously for 3 or 4 days w m green I kill fish, so I kinda do it in spurts. Works for me but I'm kinda like a scratch cook, I do it by feel as I go. I use PP the same way, treat heavy for shorter duration than is recommended but do several treatments or dips over a few days. My problem with recommended dosage is I kill fish to many times, I have better results w the incremental version. I don't know if that makes sense or not but I know what I mean.

LOST, but that's easy to do!! What about Rid ick.....I bought 3 bottles of that...and it says to treat every 24 hrs which I have been doing....how often should I do a water change?

Personally I do one at least every day while I'm treating, if that means I need to change the dose a bit than so be it. With rid ich I would do the recommended dosage, than after 24 hrs change 75% water, let the fish chill for bout 2 hrs than do the dosage. One thing I am real picky on during treatment is closely watching the fish so I can do a fast water change or inactivate the drug if needed, I'm lucky my wife likes fish so now she can help when I'm not home.
