I'm in Frisco Tx. (suburb of Dallas) and becoming increasingly frustrated with the inability to find a comprehensive LFS!

This is one of the largest cities in the country. I have lived all over and never had this problem with availibility. Anyway, can anyone help me locate SAE's in Dallas? I've tried much like I tried to find cardinal tetras a few weeks ago.

I would prefer not to mail order. The cost is usually excessive and the 'trip' can be very stressful on the fish!

Thanks for any help - Mark

I saw a tank at the Fish Gallery that was labeled for SAE's, but it was empty, your probably going to have to call ahead if you go there. The True Percula usually has the as well as most Pet O Rama stores.

I'm not up to date on the Dallas side, but there's a LFS over this way if you can't find 'em anywere else.

Hit me up if you need, for cardinals or SAEs.

Yeah, I live in the Frisco area too and it seems like an all day event to get anything done fish related. All of the good fish stores are at least 35 minutes away.

This is what you need to be looking for. If it looks different than this, I don't care what they call it, it's not an SAE. Here's a good article by Bob Fenner (http://www.wetwebmedia.com/FWSubWebindex/saes.htm)with some pictures as well.

Call Just For Pets- Canh/Ritchie can help you out.
972.789.FISH (3474) or send him an email at info@justforpetsonline.com. Belt Line and Coit in Richardson

If he doesn't have any in stock, I bet he'll be more than happy to bring some in.

Great guys, smart and they support the site. You won't need another LFS after you visit- closest quality LFS to you.

SAE's can be found at Fish Gallery, Dallas North, Plano Pets to name a few.

Make sure that the black stripe goes through the tail, that is one of the only for sure ways to know its an SAE and not a flying fox. And they only come in one color, a GOLD SAE is a Chinese Algae Eater.

I picked up 3 SAE's at Pet Boutique and Aquarium(?) a few days ago. North Dallas Aquarium had what that claimed to be SAE's, and the black stripe did go through the tail, but the several of the other fins were had a black coloration, instead of being completely opaque. I believe that the tank was marked as a Flying Fox Siamensis, but was told they were SAE's, and yes I passed on them at $7.99 each. The ones I bought were maybe $3 each.

Seriously? There are plenty of good stores around....just not where you live. Fish Gallery, Dallas North, Keller Farms, Boutique Pets-Ive seen SAE's at all of them at one time or another. Petsmart typically has them in Southlake as well. I bought a mess of them for a few bucks awhile back. Feel free to hop in the car and check out the metroplex....you may be surprised at what you find.

I agree, there's an entire LFS world out there just waiting to be discovered :p:
