I have 2 keyhole cichlids and they have been growing like a weed since I got them. They both eat well and interact well with each other and their tankmates. However, it seems like the last month they have seemed more stressed than usual. Their color during part of the day is mottled and a little dark. I know that this is normal to an extent, but it seems that they have their stressed color more often than normal. And actually, one is always for mottled and darker than the other. They still act fine, I was just wondering if anyone knew anything I could do. A while back I added some quartz, obssideon and a few river rocks that I thought may have increased the pH, so I added some driftwood to bring the pH back down that I bought from DNA out of their tank so I didn't have to soak it ect. and wait to put it in. Any other ideas?

as long as you're doing your water changes, they eat and don't appear to be beat up- I wouldn't worry too much.

okay, thanks! They eat fine and are not beat up at all. Oh, and I read that they aren't sexually mature until they are 2 years old, anyone know if this is true? Mine are still young and haven't shown and signs on spawning behaviors or anything, but I suspect that I have a male and a female. I could be wrong of course, but they have a different shaped head and one has longer fins. I doubt I would be lucky enough for it to work out that way and for them to actually pair up, but you never know. :confuzeld:

what chris said. i think it true that keyholes mature at 2 years but its different for different fish. like some baby walk at 13 months i didn't walk till 20 months old.
