I have a pair of apistogramma nijsseni in the next few days. What can I keep or not keep in the tank with them? Does anyone know.

Give me a idea of what you have in mind? For example: I would not house Apisto's with an (Astronotus ocellatus) Oscar. But I am sure some (Nannostomus beckfordi) pencil fish would be fine.

I have kept them with a pretty large variety of fish and a few different parameters....
Keeping them with a PH of 8 or 9 is not the best idea....fish who have mouths big enough to eat them is also not good....

I have a 30 gallon long that they will be going in. So I'm not looking for large fish. something around the same size. I was thinking maybe Rummynose Tetra or something like that!

Are you looking to breed the Apisto's? If so the Rummy nose are like jackal's they will pick off the egg's before they have a chance to be fertilized.. If you are not looking to breed the Apist's they are fine tank mates. The pencil fish I mention above, I have read are one of the best dither fish for Apisto's. I am currently using some guppies for mine and it seems to be working fairly well, this is the second day they have been in the tank.
Hi,
Where are you getting this Apisto's from? I am planning to get few, let me know.
thanks
