Help! Some of you may remember when I massacred almost all the fish in my 55 back last fall by forgetting to put in the chemicals. Through several people's kindness, I got a tank filled back up with Iceberg haps, Red Empresses, Neolamps, Kribs, an OB Peacock, BN's, and an unknown type of troph. I then found these mystery fry, and figured they must be hap fry, since at that time that was the type of breeding pairs I had except for the Kribs. Well, now I have one that has made a nest down in the tube left-over from my UGF. She/he is very protective of this tube, even biting me several times this evening when I vacummed near the tube(It was so cute!)! Could anyone please tell me what kind of cichlid this is, as I am really wondering if it is a hap. I also have a similar cichlid that I think is the mate. Please forgive the crappy photos taken with my Kodak Easyshare! The last photo is the other weird cichlid, that acts like a mate to the other one.

The troph that you have is a Tropheus Nkonde Bright Yellow. I gave yo the pair of fish in the picture, and i thought they were Neolamp Tetracanthus, but they are Telmatochromis Red Cheek. They are extremely nasty fish, and the pair i had bit me, and drew blood on multiple occasions. I would personally find them a new home, or get them a 30+ gallon of their own, as they will kill everything in that tank.

Thanks Gary! And thanks for letting me know what kind of troph I have. You did give me some neolamps, and I guess these two also. It has been driving me crazy for months trying to figure these two out, but they are very difficult to photograph. I will try and find them a home, because I would have to buy another tank for them. Doubt if I will have any takers, since they are so agressive. I may put them in my blue crawdad tank with the aggressive female. ;)

If you have neolamp tetracanthus in your tank right now, they came from me. I just assumed that i was mistaken about the fry that i gave you. I gave you what i thought were 2 Tetracanthus, and one tropheus, but i also used to breed Telmatochromis red cheek, so it wouldnt be out of the question that a couple of them survived.

the fish in the pic don't look like tetracanthus but its hard to tell at the angles in the pics.
I have (2) and their body shape is different from was is pictured above.

I'm not familiar with telmatochromis...

These are the red cheeks, not the neolamps, Skipp. I am not familiar either with the red cheeks. How about taking them off my hands??? :)

oh...
I don't think they are trophs...

They are a lamprologine...I think.

I'm sure Gary knows.

No, they aren't trophs, but I did get a Nkonde Yellow Troph from Gary, some neolamps, along with these red cheeks.

If you got the Neolamps from me, then you didnt get the Red cheeks from me. I gave you a total of three fish. The fish in the pics are either Red cheeks or Dhonti, which are basically the same fish, just a slightly different color in the cheeks.

Oh! This old fart forgot! Then I guess it was either David or Michelle, though I doubt it was Michelle. Thanks for clearing this up, lol!
