Epsom salt and high spirulina diet and it all goes away.... or at least that is what I found.

Run a Clout treatment until the signs are gone, and like Blake said, use epsom salt to keep it at bay. Keep up on the water changes, and make sure your feeding th proper food to the proper fish. I use NLS on my Trophs and Petrochromis, and i haven't seen bloat yet, aside from a few fish that came in with it.

Raise the temp of the tank up to around 86. This along with the addition of epsom salt will increase the metabolism to help them pass the food in them.
I also used a medicine call Metronidazole. I think its the active ingrediant in Clout.
After I added the metro., they ate within 2 days. They hadn't eaten for 4-5 days before that.
Only lost a couple.
Now that I've gone to 100% Spirulina, I've not had another problem at all.

I bought some from kens, but the pieces were all very small. Jehmco has a better quality product in my opinion.

I'm normally not too picky about the food. I just stop at the closest store around and get food. The couple of times I've gotten the Spirulina at Keller Farms. They have half price refills.

Are ya'll feeding 100% spirulina powder or just food with spirulina in it? I need to get more in their diet apparently.

I never feed the powder...
I have fed this now for about 5-6 months with no problems...

I can generally find it at most fish stores...

Get spirulina flake....
Or Veggie flake, I think Kens has one with Spirulina.
I have about 2lbs of pure spirulina flake if you want to add it to something else.
Or just use NLS it has a high % of spirulina.

That and NLS is what I feed my herd. No problems here either.

It comes in tiny little flakes.
If you want pure stuff go with Jehmco.com you will get real flakes that fish will actually like

At work, we have 100% pure seaweed (that is all that is on the ingredient list on the tag).
Could I use this for any feeding?

Well the reason I was asking is I was placing the order for kens. I found a sinking spirulina stick. I don't feed flakes, they are to messy with overflows. We'll see how they work out.

I feed mine a mini-pellet mix of NLS & Danichi Veggie FX, Jehmco Spirulina flakes along with either HBH SuperSoft spirulina pellets, "Cichlid Salad" seaweed or Algae chips. I give the Syn. some "bottom feeder" foods...shrimp pellets and such ... but I'm not sure how much gets past the cichlids - even though I put them right in his cave.
The Jehmco flakes rule! Even my GBRs & Angels love it ... the cichlids have total fits trying to eat it as fast as they can.
Let me know next time someone does a Kens order...I'de like to try those sticks.
