DDA replied to one of my threads saying he would tell me about a DIY spinach for the shrimp. Maybe he'll throw his awesome recipe in this thread.

Cool, do you just give the spinach as is to your shrimp or do you process it ?

wow, thanks for sharing, mine have been getting big off the algae and other plants in the tank, occasionally throw a sinking algae tab in there but this looks like a good idea too :)

I throw in veggies for my plecos and the shrimp seem to eat on them too. So far I've used zucchini, sweet potato, frozen green beans, and yellow squash. Everybody (shrimp, snails, and plecos) seem to love it.

I'm going to try the spinach thing though! Good idea!

I like the spinach idea. I feed mine cucumber, the crystal reds really love it. I also feed them wafers, flake food and canned green beans. Actually they will eat just about anything I put in the tank that is edible.

once a day

How many shrimp do you have in the single tank where you feed them one ball per day? I'm going to give this a try but don't want to over feed.

hah, I thought this thread was about making a shrimp mix for your fish :P

I also use kale to feed my shrimp. Doing some research, it's full of healthy vitamins AND it's really cheap. I managed to snag some for $0.65 a bunch at Kroger last week and normally find it for less than $2... Always cheaper than the equivalent spinach.

I like to use lots of protein so once a week I feed frozen or freeze dried brine shrimp and my beefheart mix. I read there's pluses and minuses to each approach, so I try to keep it reasonable but shrimp are doing well on this routine.
