I just noticed this yesterday and it looks like a spot on her side that has white fuzz??? It's almost looks like cotton. Anyone know what this is or what I can do to help her?

I'd bet it's a fungus of some sort. I've delt with flexibactor and it was a bitch to get rid of! Two common fungi are discussed here: http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Columnaris.html
I treated with nirofurazone and kanamycin and haven't had a problem since. However, I did loose a few fish before figuring out what it was. Hopefully you're catching it in time to prevent losses.
Keep us posted!

That's what I was thinking as well.
I'm not too familiar with the fungi but that's what it looks like to me.

Wow....Guess it's to the store I go. I never seen that before. Really odd. I think perhaps it started as a "goose" from another fish and maybe escalated from there. Thanks everyone for the help.

Okay...went to DNA and got pimafix. Only thing mild enough for my planted tanks and yet good to treat the fungus. I've got him isolated in my 10 gallon and treatments began today. Don't worry Blake, I'll save your krib! :D

If anything happens to the fish, I have some back up kribs if needed, "just a heads up", but there is a catch, you have to take all four.

Actually I really like kribs..I wouldn't mind taking them at all. The two I have (male and female) just take tours through the plants and explore the bottom.

Let me know when you want to come pick them up. They are beautiful fish with great colors. I would just like to do somthing different with the tank they are in.

Good luck saving her. They're beautiful fish...
I just recently bought a new pair...the male died a few days later, I thought maybe the female killed him but then she just died the other day. Neither one had any visible signs so I'm wondering if the Rams or Gouramis killed them.
That's the first time I've had them and I had them both less than two weeks so I'm not getting anymore, I feel cursed.:(

Well I only have 1 ram so maybe they can hide from each other. But my gourami's never bothered the kribs as the kribs stayed on the bottom and the g's on the top of the tank

You got yours from DNA they were probably 3/4 a fin in the grave when you got them.
Kribs are tough….I doubt a Ram would even hang with them. A Gourami maybe….but I doubt it.

I've never had a problem with any fish I've gotten from DNA, why would the Kribs be any different?
The Gouramis hardly ever hang out at the bottom where she always was so I was thinking it was the Rams because of that and because she kept swimming through a bunch that hang out together and several would go after her at a time.

Hate to say it...but I have yet to have luck from any fish at DNA

We have not had any problems with DNA that we have not had anywhere else. If we don’t go to DNA, in which we don’t go there that often anymore since XTC told us about Ritchie and Kahn at JFP, then where do we go???? Well lets see we can to Fish Gallery, well we can’t go there either I have bought fish there that have died shortly after purchase. Then there is Exotic Aquatics… oh damn same here. Well crap! I can’t think of any place that I have bought fish from that at one time or another that a fish has not died.
It seems that when ever my wife posts about a fish dying a select few, 1 or 2 members, will chastise the shit out of her for it as if she is a stupid dumb ass that should not even think about keeping fish. But I guess that these few select members have super fish, and have never had a fish die, they must be fish gods and we should bow in there very presence.
This is why you do not see her here that often anymore.

Hmmm.... I was half joking sorry it did not come off that way. I personally do not buy livestock from DNA, but then again I do not buy from a lot of places....
Not sure I was chastising anyone just giving my opinion as you are yours. I have never thought of Misty or yourself as a dumbass nor do I think I have ever talked to her or you as such. If I did I am sorry. If fact she is one of the few people who I know have got the Bol. Rams to breed without buying 15 of them.
Just gotta say wow....

Ohhh well I don't think Misty is picked on anymore than everyone else here.....but if she feels that way, I can say for all of us that it wasn't meant in anyway to hurt her feelings.

Misty's definitely one of the gang (as are you Dave though you don't post much) whom shares there successes as well as blunders.
I, personally, have only tried to help anyone whom has posted about loosing fish or regarding fish with problems as much as I possibly can.
I'd bet it was the Gourami's Misty- They'll do a quick ram on a fish ONCE and it's over.
The other idea is food- you might check and feed only veggie food and see if that makes a difference. I have found Kribs to be relatively hearty- I have my pair in with a big Acara and they can hold their own- no problem.
Misty's good people- I like her and I know she's a well liked member of the community- there's nothing ditsy about her. Anyone think otherwise can step up or step out-

Ok, when I got home the other day my wife was again upset again at another post about a fish dying. Blake’s post, the first one that I know of on this matter, was just the topping on the cake. Blake you are NOT responsible for my/our, frustration. Guess that I just took it out on you and for that, I am truly sorry. There was a time back when we were having a problem with multiple fish deaths and a member was not being helpful but just a plain ass. And to everyone that has replied to my post so far, ya’ll are not that person and I will not single them out, as that was not my intention in the first post.
And man, I know that I don’t post much but with my work schedule being 5:30 AM till who knows when, usually late, I have just enough time for a shower, dinner and a beer before passing out in my recliner. Guess this is why my wife and daughter call me Captain Recliner.

The cotton look is gone...now it just looks like a place that might have been picked on by another fish. His attitude and appetite have not changed so that's good. The medicine says it MUST continue for at least 7 consecutive days so I am about done

No no no, it wasn't you! It wasn't anybody I see here as a regular, they visit a lot for a few days and then they go away again for a while. As David said it was no one that's posted so far so please don't point any fingers at yourselves or anybody else.
I was way to sensitive about the whole thing but my feelings got hurt and David got an ear full when he got home and his reaction was to defend my feelings.
I really meant to spend more time here the other night when I answered a PM but I've been trying to get a "raising teens" forum up and running and I had so much to do so I didn't even visit the boards, I just read that PM, replied and then I was off again.
SS,
That's great that your fish is doing better! Last cotton patch I dealt with also included the eyes clouding over...that fish is now blind but like yours, he never changed much either. He skims the top of the water now and I just drop flakes on his mouth and he sucks them right up and goes on his little blind way to scan the bottom for sinkers.
What did you use to treat it? I used that bright green fungus care stuff...made me worry that the fish would turn into mutants somwehere in all that antifreeze green water, lol.

Smirky, that's great news!
Misty, glad to see you're back. And raising teens is reason enough to go off the edge now and then!

oh my...I've had a couple of blind fish before. I had a red tail botia that was missing an eye. He committed suicide by jumping out the tank 2 years after I had him. Then I go buy a couple more at DNA and low and behold...one is missing an eye. The legend lives on. LOL
Anyways, I used or am using Pimafix. It's supposedly the only medicine that isn't too strong that it will kill my live plants. So far it's done good. Just waiting for that little wound to heal a little more now.
