We broke down the 20 and 10 to make room for the 30 and 55 (we're down to 3 tanks right now) and David had put his fish in a cooler to make the move. While he was still netting, somebody in the cooler spit some babies. We don't know who but they are tiny!
We have 22 little something or others in a bnet and I don't know who to send flowers to, lol.
They could be Ruby Reds or those yellow ones we have...most likely they're Rubies but I've been wrong before.

I love that story! All the hassle of tearing down a tank was worth it!

Thank you!:)

Yep...sure was because I've since made another discovery. The original 22 are not Rubies! I was down on the floor taking some pics and I saw something scooting along the front of the tank, it was a little orange baby about twice the size of the others...a Ruby.:D Upon further investigation, she still has a mouth full.

The others are small and grey...they were black but they lightened up when I fished them out of the cooler last night. Still wondering what they are...

I know who they belong to!!

I was right back when I questioned the sexes of the Pseudo. Saulosi...they're the new mommy and daddy to all those babies.

We still have all of them and the two Rubies, everyone is eating great and growing well.

Question...what in the heck can I do with them once they get a little bigger? I don't the room to set up the 20g so can I put them in the 30g with the still growing Angels for a while? What size do they need to be before I dump them back in with the adults?

Congrats! Our saulosi fry are growing like weeds! It's been a week since I stripped her and I can't get over how big they are now. Now sure what we're going to do with ours when they get bigger, but we'll figure it out. :) Hubby is like a mother hen and taking good care of them. I see another tank in our future. lol

I missed the thread about questioning the sex of them. Our male is blue and the female is yellow. Are your's different?

Thank you!:D Congrats on yours too!

Well, when I questioned their sexes, they were both yellow and he started to get a purple sheen to him. I didn't know they turn blue as they get older. When he's ready to mate though, he gets real dark and he gets a lot of pitch black on him with a black sheen over his purple...which is over the yellow, lol. It's wierd but he can change his look within seconds.

She is yellow, or an orangy gold yellow color...not like Labs or anything.

The babies were pitch black, which is why I think she spit them early, but I got a picture of them the other day and they're brown with darker stripes and a little yellow above their eyes. Still tiny but growing fast, lol.

Ah, ok. They were yungins when you got them. Our babies were a dark brown, almost black as well. Within a few days, they turned yellow. If I recall correctly, they don't start to get the male/female coloration until they are about four months old.

Our male will get real dark purplish blue with very black stripes when he's trying to attract the female and will fade out right before your eyes. Kinda like turning a switch on and off. lol The color of the female is difficult to describe... Kind of a creamy orange. Not yellow and not orange. In between. Pretty fish and very enjoyable to watch.

Y'all are so nice...thanks for the welcome back, lol.

I forgot to tell you that another baby has been found! It's a little Cherry that I found at the beginning of last week. It was living under a piece of Lava rock and after several attempts to net it, I gave up and now it's living in a chunk of Holey rock.
It's a bit bigger than the ones in the net but it's probably gotten more food. It's getting to where it swims around outside the rock but he's very leary of Vlad the Plaid, lol. Vlad's a bigtime babyeater and hunts them down...:(

I don't want anymore babies unless a miracle happens with the Rams!
