I owe it all to you, KKD. :)
We've recounted and there's actually more than 14, but less than 25. Can't get two counts to come out the same. lol
Stripping her was pretty nervewrecking for me! She seems a bit stressed as well, but I think she will be ok. Least I hope.

I watched several You Tube videos of people stripping babies from cichlids and found one that used a q-tip. Thought that would be the best way, but she didn't co-operate, so I used my fingernail. I opened her mouth about the width of my fingernail and shook her gently in the water and she released them. One thing I was real careful about was not to hold her too tight. If anything, I held her too loose as she wiggled her way free a couple of times during the process. After stripping her, I put her back in the 180 and she was a bit stressed, but seems to be back to normal. She ate tonight which is a good sign.
Here's pics of her yesterday, her and daddy, and the babies getting cozy in the greenery.

I've used a toothpick on several occassions.
Another thing I've done, I hold her out of water for about 10 seconds, and my Red empress spit by herself, I didn't have to pry her mouth open.

I have found the hold out of the water trick to work pretty well.

Babies are doing great! Haven't lost one (yet!) and they are growing, swimming around and eating. They are kind of a light golden yellow color versus being pale. We counted 22. Not bad for a first time mommy.
