I think that my compriceps broke his nose. He is acting fine and still eating. I hope that the bone/cartilage or whatever is there will not poke through his skin. I am attaching a photo so that you can see it.

He essentially dislocated it. If its not fixed within a day or so, it will become permanent. Its a common problem with them.

It has been like that for a few days. It seems to shift around some. How do I fix it?

There is a sleeve that the bone fits into, and you have to GENTLY pull the bone out and try to wiggle it back into place.

I tried to gently move the bone back into place. It is hard to tell where to get hold of it without hurting him. Will it hurt him to leave it like that? I would love to fix it, but I don't want to traumatize him as I fumble around trying to do it. Has anyone out there done this before?

Aside from looking funny, he will be fine. If your not worried about it then dont try and fix it.

Thanks so much for the help. I will still enjoy him a lot. It is good to know that he hasn't broken it. :)

that's wild he would stay still enough for you to play with his nose like that

He didn't love what I was doing, but he wasn't too bad. His scales seem more rough than some other fish I have handled. It he were more slippery it would have been even harder.
