I wanted to give you thanks for helping me the other day. Tony recommended me chemi-pure elite for my tank for the green water. In less than 24 hours my water is looking really good you can barely see any green if any. I am still going to get a UV sterilizer I think that will help me also. Tony saved the day I had tried some of the other tips on here and they just did not seem to work. I believe my problem lies from high phosphate in the water causing my problem. It was just blowing my mind that for 6 months I never had an issue so I knew there was something fishy going on. Thanks again Tony:woohoo::woohoo:

I love and swear by Chemi-Pure Elite. I use it in my 58g angelfish tank and it has ZERO algae and never has. It doesn't even grow on the glass for some strange reason. Glad you got your problem resolved.

Sorry, this is not my intention to highjack the thread, but I've to ask:D

Can I use Chemi-Pure Elite to get rid of black algae ( dark filaments forming a litle bush).

ive really been wanting to try that stuff, but the price is kinda keeping me from trying it. i have nothing but larger tanks and id have to buy at least 2 of them :( ill try it if the tank really needs the help though.

good to know it gets rid of green water, that always seems tough to get rid of!

No problem, glad it worked out. Every now and then just give it a good rinsing.

Chemi pure will not get rid off algae but it will help control the level of phosphate and other unwanted nutrients in the water which will help deter algae. Chemi pure along with regular w/c and proper maintenance will help keep algae under control.

How often should you rinse it out every couple of weeks or like once a month?

I usually do it every w/c, it's because a lot of detrius and waste tends to collect on the outside of the mesh bag.

I've been wanting to try Chemi-Pure, but like satyra, I have large tanks and the expense makes me wary of trying it out. I can have a green water problem with my 210 Frontosa tank due to it being next to a window. I have to keep up with bulb changes on my UV filter in order to help with that, but Chemi-pure might be another weapon to use against green water if I need it.

How long to the bags of Chemi-Pure usually last before they need to be replaced? I know tank conditions will vary, but is it usually good practice to replace it once every 6 months or once a year?

I used the BIG Chemi-Pure in my 100g tank. It was expensive but it only had to be changed every 6 months. Be sure and use the Elite, which works better on algae problems. I'm serious when I say that the tanks I use that product in, there is not even an alga film on the glass. It's pretty amazing stuff.
