Welcome Blake and thanks for the pics! Are the plants in the 55 real? If so, how do you train your cichlids to leave them alone?

Welcome Blake! Nice photos of your tanks! How do you keep your fish away from your plants? I like the way you set up your rocks. Thanks for posting!

Don't get me wrong I've gone through many plants (understatement)... But I've finaly got it down I think, I use java ferns and this other plant that I cant remember what its called (because I just woke up). I'll post it when I can remember. They have a higher PH tolerance level, and are very rough. They do not grow too fast but they also don't get eaten because they have a very different texture than normal plants. They do get nipped at everyonce and a while but it is almost not even noticeable. Just make sure you don't go 2 days without feeding them. haha

Yes indeed, welcome to the site (;), ;) you should get your gf to sign up too :D)

Definitely a great introduction and your tanks look great!!!

Q: In the first picture, what is the plant towards the right? Not the wisteria, but right beside it to the left...? I have one in my tank and haven't been able to figure out what it is (to be honest haven't tried too hard :D).

Cardinal Tetra:

Cardinal has the red all the way down the body, Neon only has the read to about half. Very easy to get them mixed up as they're about the same size, etc.
