Does anyone else keep reptiles? I know people have turtles, but never here anything about other reptiles. They are kept in aquariums too. Was wondering if it were possible to. Have a section for them to be shown off and discussed or if we should just use the turtle section? Any other thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I personally don't see the need for it.
This is an site that is aquatic by nature.
I have seen people keep rats and gerbils in aquariums, is that next?
I think if we spread our selves too thin it gives more of a chance for bad information to be handed out.
Just IMHO though.

Good idea, gerbils and hamsters are awesome! I don't keep reptiles but I think it would be interesting to read about what people here keep and maybe keep some in the future.

uh no, not that many experts on here to have enough reliable info IMO. Like Dave said, this is an Aquatic site. Unless It's an alligator or something but then again that'll go into tankbuster or oddballs.

Not really for Info but more of a place just for the "other stuff in tanks" we all keep. Can share some info if you have it. Not looking to stretch anyone out as it probably wouldn't get many visits. I know this is an aquatic site but not all turtles live in water. Was just a thought. Im sure some would enjoy it and sharing with friends. :)

Maybe a section for "Other Pets", but I don't see the point of breaking it down any further.

I have 2 Chinese water dragons and an Iguana... Would love to find a site like this where it has people that are relatively close. Something like the box... But how do you go about setting one up

if this site did anything considering other things kept in aquariums, it would most likely be amphibians instead of reptiles.
I say this because frogs, newts, etc.. do stay in aquatic environments so it would make some sort of sense.

Well we do have a section for turtles and not all turtles are water turtles. And like I said before, not really looking for info, just want a place to share other stuff with friends.

To set up a site like this you will need to buy a domain name, a web server, the right internet package to your server, and assuming you don't want to write one from scratch, a copy of a basic forum website. Oh and some sort of revenue to fund it of course.
This is just a very basic checklist. If you are truly interested you could always ask this site's creator, user number 1: http://www.dfwfishbox.com/forums/production/member.php?u=1
I do think something like reptiles deserves it's own site. Maybe a sister site like dfwreptilebox.com?

I currently have 2-color morphed king snakes, a corn, a kenyan sand boa, a Jampea-superdwarf reticulated python, a giant blk throated monitor, 2 desert iguanas, and more turtles than you can shake a stick at. I have kept over 100 different species reptiles in the 18 or so years I have been keeping. If I'm not mistaken this is a users forum and if it's what the members want the admins will abligh. The turtle section is pretty new and seems to have done very well for itself. I say we need to put it to a vote. Poll anyone? Hard not to name names but quite a few fish forums have reptile sections. I think it couldn't hurt and may even help build our community, unless yall thinks we have to many members.
