Moved my pair of angels to my 55 last week. They laid eggs tonight. So far they have not eaten them and they seem much more comfortbable in the tank they are in now. They laid them on a tall rock on the far side of the tank away from foot trafic. Dad is keeping the keyholes away when they venture to that side of the tank and mom is tending to eggs. We will see if they last this time. These are the angels that have been spawning for me regularly over the past year and dad would eat eggs as soon as he saw someone walk into my room. Cross your fingers :D. I am prepared to lose them again though :(. If so, maybe next time I will have a place set up where I can raise them artificially.

<Fingers crossed>

Good luck this time around, but it sounds like you're gonna have to use a secondary setup or at least get dad outta there :(

yea I'm afraid of that too. If it fails this time around I think I will try to do that next time. Or should I just remove him anyways? Going on 24 hrs with eggs now. A few of them are white with fungus ( maybe 15 or so) and parents aren't removing them. They are fanning them and guarding them though

That's quite an improvement. Your angels are maturing! Maybe next time they'll remember about eating fungused eggs.

eggs are no more :( I removed dad just to be safe because he is the one I see eating the eggs all the time. Plus he had beat up on mom a little bit after spawning. She continued to fan and guard the eggs but not good enough I guess. Checked this morning and they were all gone. Either she ate them or someone else did during the night. My guess is pleco maybe. I guess she needed dad's help guarding. Also, by late last night most of the eggs were white with fungus. I am hoping it is not because they were infertile. Maybe just because the other eggs werent removed. Anyways, the eggs lasted about 36 hrs or so. Improvement from 15 minutes :) Better luck next time I guess.

maybe if she fanned more he wouldn't have to beat her!

spawned again yesterday...I don't even care anymore. Okay I do care, but I'm giving up hope until I can get a setup to raise fry myself. Eggs are still there though.

I assume you're going to wait until after the wedding to setup the breeder tank?

what is the water current in the tank??? IF it is too strong your eggs wont be fertilized.. and I would remove the pleco and all other fish before U remove the parents... just my thoughts... and its worked for me..
