Hi guys, I have a 55G with 2 otos, 3 amano shrimp, a clown pleco and a mystery snail. I know this this sounds nuts but I want to have a wee bit of algae in the tank. I know this sounds nuts and everything I ever read is how to get rid of it but I really do want to have some for my algae eaters. I don't want a full blown disaster, just some here and there, IMO it actually looks nice and natural anyways. So, what do you guys think?

I know what you mean, I don't want it on my glass, but on some of the rocks it looks good. As to how to make that happen, idk.
I would opt for moss over algae though.

If the tank is by a window let in some natural light. That'll do it. However, you won't have much control over what kind of algae shows up. You could put some river rocks out in a tub in your backyard with some old aquarium water and let them fuzz up in the sun, then move them into your tank for a snack.

Increase your light period via timer. 12 hours daily should start some algae growth.

you dont hear this one too much lol! yep some more light should help it start growing, especially if its natural light coming from the window.
