Saw it on another forum, and looked at petsmart online. The xp3 now sells for $189.00...:wha: so much for price matching at the store for $109....:twist:

I still kick myself daily for not getting it when everyone was picking them up for $75-80...I had the coupon printed out and was ready to go. At that point though I was gonna tear down the 75g and sell it....I should have bought 2 back then....:mad:

I ordered one on sale about 2-3 weeks ago at petsmart.com and they were out of stock. I just received an email this morning that they are now shipping my XP3 for my 55. Total price: $127.99. I thought that was high but I guess not. Blake, I will probably be calling you on how to set it up when I get it, since you were so nice to advise me on what to get.:)

the xp4 is like 200 and something now. looks like i will be on the look out for 4 cheap cansiter filters.

Yeah, I got in on the $80 XP3 deal way back when and kick myself everyday for not getting two of them.
I had no idea they'd jack the price up like that, wow. The last time I look at the XP3 online it was $104 + tax.
Holy chit batman, I bought my XP1 for $60 when I setup the 33 a few months back, now it $119.99 :eek:

yeah they basicly doubled the price if some one finds a xp4 for cheap, let me know i only have one fluval 404 hooked up to my 240 right and i know i need more filters.

I think it is something some of the other suppliers have been doing for a year or 2 and forcing everyone to sell at the same price.
$180ish has always been the recommended price. Most of the LFS do not charge that because they want to.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's a :":stock:": photo as I questioned that on another auction a while back and the seller told me the text was correct and that "the pictures might not be the exact item up for auction".
Of course, as far as I'm concerned: no pic = no bid.

I agree. My problem would be when I get the XP2 and he says it is the same as in the picture.
Just does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I knew a while back he had them for slightly less then Petsmart, but with shipping it was about the same.
I didn't even think of him this go round.
We should buy out his stock and make a killing on e-Bay :hehe:

At the time I looked, the XP3 was $104 in the store at Petsmart... now he has great deals on Rena Canisters.

Got my XP3 in today and looked at the directions...holy cow! I need a simpler one that blondes can understand! Definitely going to have George hang the power strip like Chris's so I won't have to worry about getting fried. I am sure I will be asking a bunch of questions this weekend, so bear with me!

Okay, got the power-strip hung up, opened the big box with the XP3 in it, and no bio-stars! I made an emergency call to Blake to find out if I could still run it without the bio-stars, and luckily, I can! I will get some cheaper bio-stones soon, like he suggested. I cannot wait to get it set-up and running in my 55. I plan on getting another XP3 for my 50 soon. Does Ken Fish Food have an online store?

Yeah, now with the Rena price jump the gap has been considerably closed. Used to be the XP3 was a good, cheap alternative to the FX5, but now you add an extra $50 and get a lot more filter for the money.
oh okay....mine came with stars so I threw them in there. I have a few bio balls added in as well
Neither of my XPs came with filter media, only the pads :(. I guess I'm getting the short end of the stick because I've heard others state theirs came with media too... was your's used or new?

I bought mine new at Petsmart. Some of the boxes had missing media so I opened them all until I found one with nothing missing and then bought it. I think alot of people steal out of the boxes

All I got was the filter media too. I thought I would be getting some bio-balls/stars with it, but nope! I bought mine online, so no-one ripped any off, they just didn't come with them! I need to make a trip and get some soon.
