OK... how long can fish last without eating??? Well....without me feeding them....

I know depends on how big the fish...depends on tank.... :blahblah:

ON AVERAGE... how long... 3 days??? 5 days?????

I am going to be ou of town for 3 days... and well do not want to burden anyone with taking care of my fish... and the self feeders work great...

BUT... I wanted to see if 3 days was too long.... they need to let the food to fully digest anyhow.... so...

I'd do it-

I would do a water change the day before I left- just because I tend to think fish will feel neglected without human interest and they'll start dying- That could be a mind game for me, but I do it just because it doesn't cost a dime...sort of.

I would not worry about feeding them.

I have a couple tanks that only get food 1 or twice a week.

THey should be just fine! Some fish can go QUITE a long time without eating! A couple days won't hurt them.

I work at home on Mondays, so the betta on my desk goes 3 days without feeding every week. It's not a problem.

My female africans won't eat for around 20-22 days when they are holding.

3 days should be a breeze.

I thought that but all of mine except the Yellow Labs and Red Emps will eat while holding.

They seem to troll around the bottom and wait for the small crumbs but they will eat.

welll thank you ALL for the information..... I feel much better now... I really do not like using the time release feeding thingies.... too much algae growth from the phosphate.......... I THINk...
