I set up my tank 7 days ago and had planted 4 plants: 2 ferns (not sure what kind), 1 anubis, 1 hornwort.

For the past few days I have noticed that the ferns have been what I assume to be dying. The leaves are withering and one of them is starting to turn brown. The anubis and the hornwort look good so I am not sure what the problem might be.

I am using Fluorite Substrate and I also have a liquid plant fertilizer in the water. I have 1 Aqua Lite Fluorescent.

Recently I changed the heat from 74 to 76 in my tank, which my fish love, but could this be why the plants are dying? Or maybe it is not getting enough light?

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Are you using any CO2?

Are the Ferns Java Ferns or something else? I know at one point I had some little fern looking plant I picked up from Petsmart and it just never did much always looked like it was on the point of dying.

How large is the tank? How much light do you have over the tank?

No I am not using any co2 currently, I thought that it would not be needed yet. But it is a 30 gallon tank with 1 Aqua-Glo bulb that is 20 watts.

That is pretty low amount of light....

CO2 is not necessary I was more curious if you were using liquid CO2 or something.

Ok I am not going to write any paragraphs or anything. There is a sticky at the top of the begining of this paticular fourm. This sticky has a link under it to a plant site. There is plenty of reading and articles on that site. There are also allot more sites out there on the web. You need to do some homework on this one. This is not really a cut and dry question. There are lots of factors so take a look at the site and if you have any specific question you can ask us. Good luck.
