Is that one tank or two? I bet it will look great once you trim it out and put fish in there!
Thanks for posting!

Very Creative. I assume you built the support for the tank instead of having it on a stand then?

Both are very nice looking setups. I too was hoping to do an in wall tank, but wife nixed that idea before it even got started ;).

tanks looks great. I wish I had a big enough room and closet to put an in-wall tank in, but alas I cannot. Both tanks look great

Cool tanks guys, one day, maybe, I would do it but I would get it done and then my wife would want to move.

I am so envious, David! I have always wanted an in-wall one too! When we went to remodel the master bathroom with a mermaid/ocean theme, I wanted it in the wall adjacent to my laundry room, but George looked at me like I was insane and said, " Hell no!". At least I got the two-man jacuzzi!

So are you getting one for you next?

At least I got the two-man jacuzzi!

George would never cut a hole out of the wall and build what I need to support a tank. He is mean like that. I am sooo mistreated!:whip:

Both of those are really nice. My wife and I are planning something similar (in the closet we made under the stairs leading to the second floor).

If you were closer to Carrollton I would offer you my UGF but it would not be worth the drive to get it. They are pretty cheap.

Actually, I have the 55 gallon UGF "creates" if you want 'em = free!!!

the UGF and a air pump...
air stones...
air line...

& if you get my UGF, you'll need the stand pipes.

Looks kinna like this, but mine is 4 sections and I don't have the tubes...

Oh heck, I just realized you're half way around the world from me... with gas prices it'd be much cheaper for you to stop at your LFS and get one.

will the ugf help with all the waste food that goes under the rocks? or what do i need?

Well the main drawback for a normal flow UGF is the fact that for it to work properly you have to clean and maintain it regularly.

Now there are two other systems that are very similar, but IMHO less drawbacks:

1. RUGF - Reverse Under Gravel Filter. Basically, instead of drawing water through the substrate, you push water through it. This helps keep the food and waste in the water column so the filter can get it out.

2. UGJ - Under Gravel Jets. It's kinna like the RUGF, but you have piping under the substrate with 'jets' or 'nozzles' which poke up above the substrate in strategic locations (like have one aimed at a rock pile to keep food and waste from settling on it). There are a couple of guys here running these type systems, so you might wanna look through the DIY section for how they setup theirs.
