Tank looks great! Makes me want to get another tank for some neons and such. Are those the key-hole fish you have? They are cool looking! I really love that big driftwood piece you have in there. All I would add is a background of some sort.

Nice looking tank. That Leporinus doesn't bother the smaller fish? I had one that was about 10" and was mean as all get go. He ate allot of fish in his time.

Really like your tank. What is the substrate? I like the dark substrate, and can only find those stupid black epoxy coated rocks.

Very nice.
The SMS looks pretty good also.

Substrate looks like SMS (Soilmaster Select) cheap alternative for plants. Works pretty good as well.

Yep, SMS is what that is. It's very light so hard to keep plants down at times. I got it from Lesco for I think around $15 a 50 lb bag.
Yes, I have just a splash of everything in there. Funny enough though, the leporinus is not the mean fish in the tank. Perhaps because I bought him as a tiny little guy and he's always grown up with little fishies?? I dunno. The meanest is actually the kissing Guarami. He's endless with going after my rainbows!
Those fish with the red noses are actually Rummy Nose Tetra....is that what you thought was the keyhole fish??
None the less...trying the planted thing now.....the leporinus so far leaves the plants alone...the only problem is my 12 cory cleanup crew is uprooting plants as they go! haha

I agree Chris, the tank looks fantastic!
Pretty dramatic change from what I remember it looking like. The driftwood and substrate look great together and once all the plants grow in it's going to be a killer planted tank.
My pink gouramis (3 total) don't bother anyone. But they challenge each other the time. I think you're supposed to keep them in groups because of the "kissing" which is actually a show of dominance.

Looks good, but I think once you have more plants in there you may want to find a new home for that lepornius..:)

Yeah...it's probably like having a salad every day for my leporinus!! lol Yes, very dramatic difference from last. I am trying to keep it natural looking. The kissing G. shows his dominance to my rainbows. Flares his lips and is billy bad ass.

Thanks!
Yes, of course I want the plants. Since you were on a hectic schedule, I figured I would not bother you for a week or so. haha.
I think you had your schedule planned out for about 2 weeks. Does this weekend sound good?

Yeah...my bala's eat my plants like they are vegans at a salad buffet. Surprisingly I never notice my Leporinus eat the vegetation! I added some more plants...I will post a pic or two later. Speaking of...how is the 33 long? Any updates there?
AndrewH

Yeah, the 33 is growing outta control... I gotta get then Tiger Lotus outta there (at least the big one) because the leaves have gone from silver dollar size to saucer size in the last couple of weeks.
Definitely need a trim before the pics, but updates to come soon too (maybe tonight).

Why move it, just trim the tall big ones and let the new smaller ones come in.
AndrewH
03-17-2008, 09:26 AM
Because they're all "tall" ones :p:, since the tank is only 12" deep.
