Hello,
I am new to this site and new to this hobby. I just aquired two tanks from my brother-in-law. One is a nice long 75 to 80 gallon tank and the other is a boxy tall 55 gallon tank. I am looking forward to meeting new people and learning from your trials and experience.

he just moved back from Orlando, Fl. I am in the process of cleanning the tanks at this time, so no fish as of yet, but soon. I am not sure what I want (fresh water), but am looking for eye pleasing fish. Any and all ideas and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks for all of the support.
SUpersmirky,
I would have liked to visit Orlando (the little bit that I saw was nice), but I was only there long enough to eat lunch and pack and load his belongings (he was home sick and ready to get back to Texas).

Yes indeed, welcome to the site.
I'm not sure if you've received any/many ideas yet, but I keep several types of tetras which are peaceful "community" fish. Colorful, hardy, undemanding.
I also keep gouramis which fall under those same descriptions.
I used to keep guppies which also fall under your requirements, but there are lots of fish to choose from so let us know if you have any questions regarding any particular fish or group of fish.

I am thinking about chiclids and maybe Angels. I still am planning on a tank with tropical semi aggressive. I am interested in Bala sharks and red tail sharks. There were a few more, but I can not remember them at this time. I guess I need to get to work and start cleaning the second tank.
thanks again, and as always any ideas and thoughts are encouraged and appreciated.

Welcome! The decision of what to put in a tank is tough indeed. Keep in mind bala sharks and red tail sharks can get rather large, even for your sized tanks. I've got one tank with mostly mollies and another with africans and both are colorful and full of movement. Just aquired a 75g and I have no idea what I'm putting in it. (And no, Andrew, it will not be alligators! lol)
Keep us posted and feel free to ask for advise, input, or help. We're happy to lend a hand.

I have two angels, 3 mollies, 3 bala sharks, 2 orange w/ black tails (I do not remember the name), 3 glo fish and 2 black moors (they are leaving asap, going into a 10 or 20 gallon tank) my wife got them. I just set up a 30 gallon tank (I will probably put my tropical community fish in this tank) and leave the semi aggressive in the bigger tank. I plan/hope to get another large tank in the near future.
