Is that normal behavior? That's hilarious...almost like my loaches when they sleep on their sides at the bottom of the tank...I always do a double take to make sure they aren't dead.

My old betta that I had for almost 4 yrs would float at the top of the tank and lay on its side "dead". i'd walk by and i would notice and run to the tank to make sure he was ok and soon as id get there he would flip up right and begin begging for food lol. and id fall for it everytime lol.

That's awesome. Does he want the cave, to fight the orange flash, to eat eggs, ................. what?

My loaches will flop over and act dead just to make fun of me when I freak out. But even worse is when my Betta does this think where he bends himself in half and wedges himself in the rocks at the bottom of his vase. :| What kind of substrate are you using?

Nope as soon as he got the cave he didn't want it any more hahaha. I did have to remove the orange flash to another tank. That trick got him to attack the orange flash so many times the orange flash would just hang out at the top

I use pool sand from lise pool supply, it is real nice and fine and real soft for the bellies. it cost me 16.00 Dollars for 50 LBS. Little more then HD , the color is a lot better also.
