Some of you have seen this tank in person and some people requested pics of the new 10" loaches I got, so I figured since Ive never shown anyone pics of my tank, I would do so as well. Ive been obsessed with loaches since I was 12. I took a 5yr break when I was about 20, but im right back into the thick of things. My oldest clowns Ive had for about 5 years.
It is a 150G Long tank with a 39G Sump. Its been setup for about 6 years now. I filter it with an Eheim 2260, Eheim 2217 and a AC500. I use the spraybars to create a river like current and supplement the current with 2 maxijet 1200's. The Koralia 4 is for testing purposes, havent decided if I like it yet.
It used to be heavily planted , but as my loaches got bigger, they uprooted everything and I gave up on plants for now.
I'll be moving soon to a large house, so I plan on having a 10x2x2 tank built for the loaches.
Heres a general shot of the tank -

Heres 10" #3 - suprisingly he still has lots of color, he might be younger than the other 2, but his tails are ragged and he might be showing signs of ich =\

Thanks for looking.
I wonder how my former biggest would react to the new guys who are much bigger than him, but so far no noticeable fights or anything, pecking order just got bumped a few places. The big ones are noticeably more skittish than the others, but I think they will adjust over time.

Man, you clown around. Get it? Ok... Anyway, clowns are one of my faves too. Didn't realize they got to 10"!!! Bet it's fun watching them eat.

There are some people I talk to on the loach forums that have 11" and 12" ones that will eat out of your hand. Hopefully once these new guys settle in , I'll try that with some shrimp.

Tank gets real cloudy during feeding time, cause everyone is shuffling around trying to get food. And once that settles down all you hear is clicking noises everywhere from loaches chomping on their food stashes.

That tank is amazing! I would've happily sat there for a while just watching them all mill about.
That was also the first time I've seen Clown Loaches that large...I didn't even know they got half that size, lol.

Very nice tank, I checked it out today, well I should say yesterday since it is already past midnight. Pick up a light from glostik yesterday, very nice guy and the pic's do not do justice for the clown's. Ten times better checking those loaches out in person. By the way thanks for the light and it was very nice to meet you.

WOW! I think I died and went to heaven finding your posts!
That is such a big tank, and nice tank. I would love to come by some time!

I have a 75 gallon "loach" tank with 10 clowns. getting bigger I thought but now that I see yours, well mine are small :wha:

I will have to post my loach tank here soon. I have 10 clowns, 4 sand loaches, 3 yo yo's, 4 kuhli brown and stripped, 4 angelicus' and 2 green cory cats that think they are clown loaches :hehe: They all get famously well, and play and have so much fun together!!! They ARE getting bigger, my biggest yo yo is the size of clown fish!!!!!

I had a couple "strays" from the LFS that were 4-5 inches (previously owned) but they died on me. These all are a group now and I am not adding another fish to the tank, until I get a bigger tank

I am so jealous but so happy to see so many happy big and bigger :wha: clown loaches in a big tank like that! ee! haa!!!!! love it!

Thanks for sharing.

hey Glo- in a couple pics (10" #1)- you can see a spot on a couple fish. Is that just a variation? different sex? different type?

Or what can you tell me.

OMG! Are those guys bigger than the one's at the Fish Gallery?

I'm pretty sure the spot on the 10"-er is just a variation. Some clowns have what are called broken saddle patterns, which is like irregular striping.

That is really an amazing tank though. Not only do the fish look great, I like the way it is aquascaped.

clowns have lots of stripes and spots variations.

I've actually moved and the tank looks a little different now.

I'll also be upgrading soon.

Those big loaches at the Fish Gallery were all for me actually, I only ended up taking half since they wanted to keep some for show.

I was in the TP last night & they had a tank full of clowns like this. I have never seen such cool fish behavior! It was so neat that I took a video of it on my phone.
