Mine is planted as well. Go ahead with caribsea fiji pink sand. Some nice live, rock and plant you some real nice corals in it. I love my planted set up

Can't really help you as far as plants, I haven't kept them.
With the 29, you have a lot of options as far as what to keep. It's really up to you. You could load up on community fish, use it for a breed-specific tank to breed, or use it for small dwarf cichlids.

Apistos would be really cool. My tank is semi planted, I have Micro swords that are growing really well under mid level lighting.

If it were my tank I would stock it with a pair of Bolivian Rams, about a dozen pygmy cories, a nice sized school of cardinals, and maybe an albino bn.

If you only have low light, just go with something like this.
http://www.petfish.net/articles/Aquatic_Plants/eplant.php
Like the article says, go with java ferns, java moss, anubias, that sort of thing. Hygrophilas work well if you don't have fish who devour them, and some swords. With all of those, you don't have to mess with CO2 or fancy ferts, so you can concentrate your efforts on the fish.
P.S. I'm not saying do exactly like the article and stick a UGF in there, but stock well and choose low-light plants.

I agree with the apisto's or bolivian/blue rams idea. But I am partial since I am doing that with a 60 gallon tank.
Best of luck on what you decide!

Anubias is a easy plant to care for and doesn't need a lot of light. They would look nice toward the front of your tank.
