ok dont know if im in the right section for this but maybe someone can answer a question.... I have a pond hand dug its aprox 150 maybe 200 ga. I have a old above ground pool filter I converted for it running and a pond pump I converted into a filter that is I think 500 gph and I still have to drain it once a week at least because it is building up alge to the point where i cant see more than a inch or two into it I have 2 placo's maybe 4 or 5 inch, about 10 gold fish about 4 or 5 inches 2 channel cats about 5 or 6 inches 6 blue gills maybe 4 or 5 inches and all the crawdads the kids in the neighborhood can find in the creek does anyone have a idea i can try to keep it at least if not clear maybe a little bit clearer
may have too many fish in 150 gallons of water. recommend heavy aeration (all that algae will rob the water of oxygen at night).
you can filter your water through a fine filter pad or scrub pads to remove the algae.
some shade from the sun would help as well or go with a UV unit, wouldn't need a large one, maybe 25 watts or so.
good luck.

to be honest, its better to just stick to the goldfish that you have. As you probably know, the channel cats get HUGE. The goldfish will definitely enjoy having the whole tank and will grow to pretty decent size.
Adding some potted plants to the pond might help a bit with the algae issue but a UV filter will take care of it pretty easily. Some lotus or lily plant would look good as well :P

Nice looking pond.
I'd also have to recommend a UV sterilizer. I've seen a few nicely priced ones in our 'For Sale' area here on FB. Some are built specifically for ponds and others just for Aquariums. It's all about the housing/wattage/dwell time/ etc. Keep in mind most don't come with a pump. There's also a few DIY vids floating around on youtube if you wanted to go that route.
