I am looking for some more hardy lillies. What I am looking for is some hardy types of lilies that will have a red flowers and blue flowers. If anyone has a website that I can look up types of lilies with these different colorations I would really appreciate it.

Or has anyone tried the red hardy lilies from petsmart or the big box hardware stores and had any luck.

Wow! I hadn't had Water Lilies in quite a few years in our ponds --- since we got the Koi and they started eating them up they were too expensive for FOOD!

Didn't know you could get Blue Hardy Lilies. I thought those were Tropicals.

There are no blue hardy water lilies. Some blue tropical water lilies will over-winter if the pond is protected and the weather mild, but this is not certain. Last winter almost wiped out mine.

I don't recommend buying any lilies that have been in a box unless you open it to check to see if it is still alive. I sell both hardy & tropical water lilies, so if you are still wanting some you are welcome to contact me. I've got a few Red Paradise divisions left.

I second the notion of not buying from a box, if you do you want to buy at the beginning of the season when Petsmart or wherever first gets them in. If you want to chance it just hold on to your receipt and return it if it is dead or doesn't sprout. You get lucky with some of them though.

Kat-what are you asking for a division of one of your red paradise lilies? That is such a great looking bloom.

Depending on size of the division, I usually charge $6-$10 depending on the variety. My Red Paradise divisions are still small at this point, so I'll go $5 each division. Keep in mind, that in our hot temps red blooms will usually get crispy. Haven't found a deep red yet that takes the heat (in a hardy at least). I do have other hardies & tropicals available, so please send me a PM to get more info if interested.

Michael, glad the goldfish are doing well for you.

James,

Take a look at Florida Aquatic Nursery's stock (http://www.floridaaquatic.com/water_garden_plants_1.html) to get an idea of what's available. I'm sure any of the local merchants would be able to do a special order for you, FAN's one of the biggest suppliers in the country.

Cheers,
Phil
