Ok so I got my new lighting today after getting paid woohoo...here are a lot of pics of my tank. Now I know the mardi gras theme is not a natural setting and a little girlish, but the story behind that is that I got out of fish for a few years when I met my wife, and I always brought up how I wanted to get back in...bla bla bla. So Christmas 2006 she got me the whole set up...the catch was that she picked out all the decorations too because she didn't want to have a "natural setting"...shes changed now though so eventually I will be doing what I want to do with it, but for now here is my tank! All my plants are real btw.
The unboxing and groping of the new light...the old lights are laying there too.

:) very nice upgrade!
What are the "natural" upgrade plans? As in what do you plan on using?
55 gallon, right?

It's whimsical but it is also very pretty! Is that setup with or without CO2?
Time to buy another tank now and put your old lights on the new one! See how MTS starts?

I use flourish for trace elements and flourish excel for my co2 supplement...as long as I keep a minimal amount of plants I have never had problems with those products which is much less painful than having a co2 setup.

yea it's a 55, and I don't really know, I have been perusing the pics on the forum for ideas...i like the smooth stone river bed look, but then stacking the rocks in the back is a real nice touch too...I will definitely share pics when that happens probably in april or may after the move.

I dunno the clown puke works will with the Olympic Rings on crack above the tank....
Actually does not look bad, I was reading your post first and was expecting Snow White and the 7 midgets and a castle.
Lights look good.

BTW... what is the clear MASS in the back left? If your sportin a diamond that big, a decked out tank shouldn't be a problem!

It's called slag glass...it is usually left overs from glass factories and stuff...that piece has been in my family for approximately 4 generations (who knew glass could have sentimental value)

The glass confused me for a little bit...I thought it was a bag with a fish in it! I think it looks good...nothing wrong with it! But is that a goldfish I see????

hey... I think the fish adapt to anything we put in the tanks!!!!! I think it looks good... not cluttered...that is the most damaging thing to aquascaping... OVERKILL..

That tank is actually kind of cool looking. Is that a big piece of glass in the tank? I like that big coral-looking thingie. I would recommend changing out the gravel, because it does look like Mardi-Gras. Some black colored quartz(ask the guys what type) would look great, especially if you put some holey rock in there, IMHO.

I like it. I would imagine it's kind of fun to look at...like when the room is dark and you're just sitting and watching the fish.
Surely I'm not the only one that does that??:o

Hubby and I were just discussing upgrading the lights on the 135. The lights on the 180 are awesome and it does make a huge difference.
And I like the clown puke! I'm thinking of setting a tank up for my grand-daughter after they move and it gave me some good ideas. She's all bling bling and only three. I already feel sorry for her dates!
