I am new to this site.I am into freshwater live bearers, guppies, mollies, swords and am trying to get live plants started. I have a 55 gal setup, fixing to set up 29 & 20. Where would be a good place to get plants?
I live north of Denton.

Welcome to the box...
I live south of arlington so I cannot help with the best place to go up there.
There are others here that are familiar with that area and I'm sure they will speak up.

Hey welcome to the box! How far north of Denton? There is a real small pet store in Denton on University drive called Fish and Chirps. They are a family run business, and take care of their animals and are not in it for a quick buck.
Also I have personal experience from ordering plants from www.liveaquaria.com (http://www.liveaquaria.com) they are packaged awesome, and they have a 14 day guarantee. With the warm winter we are having no worries about freezing during shipping.
Make sure you have at least 2 watts of lights per gallon, so you are looking at having 110 watts of light on that 55 gallon minimum. That is where I made my first mistake :( this lighting will need to be between 5500 and 7500 k spectrum.
Also I highly recommend Flourish and Flourish excel for live plant growth!
It sounds like a lot of stuff to do, but it is much better than getting frustrated with brown plants and having to replace them not understanding what is happening.

Hey Russ! Nice to have another fan of the finned rabbits! I have a boat load of molly babies and fixing to have more. I think I'm going to need a bigger boat!

Welcome to the forums.
I recently added a lot of plants to my tanks and ask in the "Freebie" (http://www.dfwfishbox.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23) or "Want To Buy" [http://www.dfwfishbox.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22] sections of this site for anyone that had unwanted plants or plant clippings (which you can plant and they'll sprout new plants) so not to be out a boat load of $$$ just for the greenery.
To say the least everyone came through :D. Maybe look up those threads or start your own. But the thing with "free" plants is you might have to be willing to travel a bit. To my knowledge there aren't too many really good places in Denton for fish/plants, so you might want to check out the LFS (local fish stores) of North Dallas if you're out and about.
Also, I would recommend starting with some of the easier plants to grow like Java Fern, Java Moss, Swords, or Hygros since they will pretty much grow in any water with almost any lighting setup.

Hello and Welcome! It is good to have you here. I am close to you in Slidell, and as far as good places to get plants, they are few. Getting some clippings from someone on this site might be your best bet to get started.
