What LFS do you shop at most frequently? [Archive]

I live in The Colony, so my place of choice is Dallas North Aquarium (DNA) in Carrollton. I know they have their problems...they can't seem to keep employees that are knowledgeable around for longer than a week or so, and occasionally I see a sick tank, but overall they seem to be a good place more so than the big box stores like petco and petsmart.

So where do ya'll go, and what city is it in?

by the way I saw on the news Pet Tails in The Colony just got raided and there were dead and sick animals all up in there. I went there one time when they first opened excited that The Colony got a pet store, and from the get up I knew it was doomed...bad setup in there :(

Just for Pets is a good place in Richardson.

Fish Gallery in Dallas is one of the best, if they ever get back up and running they have one of the largest selections.

Just for Pets rocks!

I think it's safe to say that it's a favorite around here. Every time I go in, I hear: "You just missed so-n-so" or, "So-n-so was in here yesterday".

The guys are so nice and they get beautiful fish!

Just For Pets is my favorite- if they'd only open a bar in back...:hehe:

I travel around from shop to shop on occasion just to see what's in the market- but I prefer Just For Pets if at all possible.

I've got to venture to Just For Pets someday to see what the hype is about. :)

Exotic Aquatics is my fave. Course, could have something to do with that I live a mile away from them too. But they do get some unique critters.

I had to get onto Mike yesterday- they have a cool little Apisto in there.

I went by and they won't sell him- he's for a store employee...Get him OUT of customer's view then!!! That irked me.

Head straight down Custer, when you hit the Bush take a right and stay on the access road (or not, if you feel like paying a toll)

Take a left on Coit. Couple of miles... Just before Beltline you will see a strip center with a Monarch Dental on the Coit side. Turn in there. POOF! If you miss the drive way... no biggie, take a right on Beltline and turn in to the shopping center off of Beltline.

I completely forgot who it was that was looking for them....

I almost picked them up knowing whoever it was would speak up again. Although I typically do not buy from the place that had them.

We can take pics of their patio pond. :hehe:

I'd like 3 more- I like em more than the Kuhli- I think they're more hearty. Dirt cheap too!

Just for Pets is my fav. I stopped going to Exotic Aquatics after they misquoted a price and had me drive all the way from Garland to only find out a Price misquote when I showed up. They didn't want to honor it...so I don't visit there anymore.

Petsmart on Coit actually gets better fish than some other petsmarts. Unusual. And there is always Petco on Plano Rd of course. They have salt water as well as "some" different fish.

Travis is the big guy there- he's cool and will hook you up. Same with the two blondies that work there- they're cool, live at the end of my street.:cool:

I've got all sorts of hook-ups at that store. I'ma bit of a circus when I walk in there with the boys or a foster! Then they find out im in rescue.... hehehe. I'm not opposed to WORKIN the angles!

For you plant lovers, Pet-a-Rama on Marsh and Frankford has an awesome display of plants.

If you live out Garland way, the Boutique is fun to visit occasionally.

Rift 2 Reef (Lewisville) is my personal fav...Dane keeps fish that you don't see at every other store and that is important to me as I like the odd africans.

Just for pets is good... Kahn is cool as hell.

Fish Gallery seems nice, but I've only beed twice since the re-open.

True Percula is the closest to me... Me and the owner had some words so I drive across town to do business with good business people...but they have some nice stuff. I hold grudges but will go back to this store, I just have to make a point first.

I don't really have a favorite LFS right now. I'm close to the True Perc & Tranquilscapes & Mansfield Pet O Rama is just down the rroad from Tranquil. I just realized I haven't been inside an actuall LFS in over 2 months. YIKES! I'm due for a trip.

Keller Farms and Winnies are pretty close to me (arlington) they are always willing to trade store cresit for my offspring. Occasionally go into petsmart but I print their online prices for a price match, usually to pick up some food and hardware sometimes, I need to hit the fish gallery with all of the ppl saying how great it is and I would do more biz with aquatic wonderland in arlington, if they carried more dry goods

I used to work in Haltom City and loved Keller Farms. I never met Paige; I have only known Mac. Last weekend I went in looking for a male sunshine peacock. I found a couple of other fish, and found a small sunshine (2.5 inches, including tail) in a mixed African tank, marked African cichlids, $19.99.

When I got ready to buy them, the guy said, "I'll have to check and see how much this will be."

I thought he was making a joke, and said, "I'm going out on a limb here, but I'll bet it's $19.99."

He looked at me strangely, left, and came back with Mac who looked at the little sunshine and said that it was $35.00.

Still thinking it was a joke, I said, "but special for me, $19.99, right?"

He said "no, it is $35."

I said, "but this tank of mixed cichlids is marked $19.99."

He told me that all the fish except the one I wanted were $19.99, and that all Peacocks were $35.

I showed him several tanks where the Peacocks were less than $35.

He told me it would be $35.

I told him to forget it, and to put the other fish I had chosen back into the tanks.

I won't be going back.
