Hey Blake...Apparently I came in just right after you left Just for Pets.
Saw some awesome gobies that I considered getting. He said you picked up some of those gobies! How do you like em? Can't really remember what they are right now.

Give me a few minutes... I will upload some pics....
Honestly I can not give a lot of advise.... my first batch did not fair well the second seem to be doing great.
I will say if you have a nice community setting and want someone trolling the bottom these guys are freaking cool. Colors are really cool but they do not seem to like a lot of movement.

Very cool fish... if you have a place for them pick some up.

There is not a lot of info on them.
But if you are looking for a fish that will surprise you a lot these are the guys.... they are always different colors and seem to be everywhere in the tank.

I have 3 and they seem to do fine.
Chris has a couple and last I heard they are doing alright.
Just give them plenty of time to acclimate.

what kind of goby were they? If that was mentioned I missed it. Very neat looking though! I wanted some knight gobies when I had my brackish tank..but that never happened.

Just for Pets had at least 4 more that I could see. These guys were chilling on plants and around the bottom.
I've got a pair- she sits in the plants and he patrols the substrate in circles under her. Occasionally, she'll drop down to the floor and he'll put on a killer show of behavior and color change. I love mine. They're not in my community tank though- they're in a little 10g planted tank. They seem happy enough.
FOOD:
I've been feeding mine flakes and an occasional bloodworm night. I dropped a sinking pelet in front of him and he didn't touch it. -what about you? and do you see them eating it?
I'm thinking about going to get another pair...but I'm not sure yet. He had Peacock Gobies last year and I loved them- so I'd like to see about some of them.

Mine eat flake or bloodworm.
They seem to eat pretty good.

I picked up a pair today and they really are awesome, I put them in my community tank and everyone checked them out and left them alone after that. When I feed tonight they both were eating flakes.
My female has established a nice roost in a plant that he circles around. She's a bright "green" color- he's more of a dark gray when she's up there- he goes ash/white gray markings with pronounced gills and open mouth (like a shell dweller defending it's territory) when she's on the ground- it's cool to watch.
I haven't seen her eat anything yet, just him.

Chris how do you tell a male from a female?
I'm assuming by the behavior the male exhibits. I could be wrong- mine are very different in color 95% of the time- so it's easier to tell which is which.
ANYONE got a link to any info on these guys- I couldn't find squat!

Both of mine are different color as well. I would be interested in any info as well.

I have not seen much info....
I was curious how to tell the difference as well.
Mine just hang out all the time.
mine act completely different. I can't remember the last time I pulled up a chair and watched fish- but I've done it 3 times in the last 2 days- these guys are so cool!!

I did see somewhere they are easy to breed but not a lot on what the males and females look like.

I could be wrong but I thought they needed a place to get out and bask in the sun(or artificial light source).
Chris, the name of the gobies are rhinogobius yaoshanensis, they also go by Ctenogobius yaoshanensis. Here is one of the site about them.

My pics are not nearly as good as Blake's- but here are my little guys.
