And one I don't know

Add those to my three big Amazon Swords, my Giant Bacopa and the 50 thousand baby Java Ferns I have and I just might end up with a nice looking tank when this is all done.
Within the next week or so, we're redoing the lights so I can grow virtually anything and then I'll work on some ground cover. I'm throwing in a pile of Colorado River Flats, some river rounds and a tangle branch when I can find it and there'll be BolRams, Dwarf Gouramis, Emerald Corys, Neons and a couple of Cherry Shrimp...

Those are some great finds for plants! They look good. Where do you go to get your plants? I don't know what the last one is a picture of but it certainly has some color to it! Very pretty

The one you don't know is R. macrandra. Good luck with it. Its near the top of the list for the most difficult plant to keep. It must have 4+ wpg, a substrate rich in iron and ZERO nitrates in the water (to keep it red). Make sure you keep some nitrate hogs in there (hygro are good, so are lg amazon swords). Youll also need to add lots of potassium and iron to make it look good.

I only tell you this, because that is one of the plants I couldnt get to grow properly in my tank. It grew, but it didnt have the paper-like pink leaves.

Thanks for the info, it's good to know! I'm up for the challenge though I think...or I thought I was. I don't hold out much hope now though if you couldn't get it to grow properly, lol.

I have a black thumb when it comes to plants, so I won't even try. Nice plants Misty! Good luck!

Thank you!

We still have to get a few more plants, I think David has a PM out to someone about that but I think I want some more of the Rotala, the Red Melon and the Cardinal too. That's a big thing...I've always liked the greens and not so much the reds and browns, but I think I'm hooked on reds now as long as there's still plenty of greens.

If there's one thing I never have a shortage of, it would have to be pics of my tanks and cats so I'll be sure to share.

Very nice collection indeed.

What's your lighting upgrade plans?

Are you planning to use the gravel I see in the pictures, or are you going to change out the substrate.

Definitely do some before and after pics :D :hehe: or before and transformation progress.

Thank you!:)

*ahem...

Minor correction in there though. I thought we had 80 watts, we only had 40...it's still up to 154 though. They're OdySea Marine Lights (I think) and a Luna Light, if that means anything. You'll have to ask David about them, when we're at the stores and the lighting topic comes up...I tend to wander off to look at more pretties. According to Cahn though, I can grow just about anything I want to now.

I do plan on keeping the gravel for now. I had EcoComplete in the 20g and I was very displeased with it. There was a lot of plant loss, it still depresses me. I still have the 40 lbs. of it so I might, if I feel like another try at it, add a handful under each plant. I'm wondering if it'll make a difference in the bigger tank, I don't know if it would or not.
I know I can grow the plants in the gravel, it's just a matter of constantly replanting them until they root, so I might just leave it at that.

To the corner I go... I completely didn't put two and two together on that one.

(in my defense she never stated that these plants were in the tank from the other thread and my internet has been down at my house so I'm coming in 12-24 hours after the posts and trying to "catch up", but nonetheless, I'll go join the others in the corner. Most of the site is in the corner at this point, right?)
