Heres my attempt at making a 5gallon tank splitter for keep two bettas in.
It for the most part works except my fear of the possiblities of mayhem since the center piece is clear.Sure enough the red one (Skrappy) flared up and scared the blue one (Bleu) and he freaked and flew into the glass and wedged himself into a fake plant.Looks like he broke his back or something.Still alive and swimming upright but funky looking.

Anyways my question is:
Does any one have an idea on how to make it less see-through.
I left it loose and held with tape so I can fix if needed.
Ive thought of hot glueing rocks to the wall and leave water flow through holes still open
Any ideas?
thanks

Its working good, because of the holidays I havent had time to remove the centerpiece to paint it but skrappy the red betta is liking his new "compact" living quarters. As soon as I paint it Ill replace the blue betta on the otherside :D

what kind of plastic did you use?

I suggest you use the plastic "netting" that people use in the sewing section as a divider. the holes are really small and it's flexible enough where you can squeeze it in and it'll stay put

Ill hafta stop by the sewing supply store sometime soon to scope that netting out.
Also when I first put one betta on each side one betta flared up and scared the other betta so bad that it ran into the fake plant and gravel and broke something inside since two bubbles on one side of the fish appeared and he can barely swim. After a week of no improvement to the ailing betta I put him down :(
So the lesson to be learned for me is DEFINITELY make the center plastic non transparent.
Lesson learned

The netting being described is plastic needlepoint canvas, I believe. It can be found in Walmart, Hobby Lobby and other places that have a fabric department. I have used it successfully to separate cichlids in my 75.

The plastic was from a section of a plastic storage bin from walmart that we cut out to make a entry way for Momma dog to have a area to nest and to have her puppies last week.
