Im officially tearing down my planted tank and starting over with a different look. Im keeping the Blyxa japonica and the Lotus plants and bringing the fish and the rest of the plants to Fish Gallery next week. Im going to let the lotus grow tall, add some very large lace rocks, and cover the rest of the bottom with the Blyxa . Im thinking about doing some non-digging cichlids. Maybe some odd Pikes (sp Tapajos, lenticulata or Xingu III maybe) Id love a pr of wild festae, but Im afraid they would destroy the fauna. I thought of some odd Africans-maybe Hemichromis fasciatus or frempongi. Tangs and Malawi would look too odd in this tank with the background and the plants I think. Water conditions would not be the best for them either.
Its been a lot of fun, but there is no evolution with it-its the easist tank Ive had and I need a challenge.
Ill post pix when its torn down and set back up.
Any suggestions for fish would be appreciated.

I love the Pike Idea.
Exotic Aquatics has been bringing in some different pikes and what not.... while not my kind of fish they are very cool.

There has been a very slight change of plans. Ill be picking up some Retroculus xinguensis instead of pikes. These should provide a big challenge! I put a photo of an adult below. Tough fish to keep alive from what Ive heard-never seen them in person in 25+ years in the hobby. Ill be keeping the B. sidthimunki, sumo loach, rainbows and possibly the clown loaches.
The plant list wont change and I also have 12-15 Espei rasboras to add to the list.
