I give...I can't search anymore. When David was picking fish for his tank, I didn't write down what they are and now that I've been taking care of them for the last several months, I'd like to know what I'm taking care of.
Both of these pairs, plus the Ruby Zebras and that little "plaid" guy are in the 30g.

These yellow ones looked identical until about 2 months ago when the one developed a purple sheen and the fins got some black on them. Are they male and female or male and dominant male?

I'm almost sure that the bottom one here, is a female. It's bigger and plumper than the other one but what do I know.

Thanks!

Top ones are Pseudotropheus something... pretty hard to tell right now.

Does the yellow one have egg spots?

It does, they both have 2 but I've been proven wrong by egg spots many many times, lol.

They look like young Pseudotropheus saulosi or atleast that is what my young males look like.

Females do not have egg spots on these guys and the bars on the females are darker(not white) when they show them.

But there are a dozen or so more similar fish it would be hard to tell....after they are mature you will have better luck.

YES! Thank you!

The guy called them "Big Sky" cichlids, which is what I found when I went searching for "acei".

Thanks again Brandy

Top pic does indeed look like saulosi. A female and a male going through the change.
