Yeah, I know, my pics suck, but y'all get the idea. I'll get more after things settle and bubbles disperse.

Oowww I likey!!!

Are there fans on the other side of the canopy (against the wall)? I'm guessing those lights are the ones you bought off eBay?

Looks like a great start. What are the plans? Seems like I can see some plants in there, are they real?

Nice tank. Think your dog likes it too.

Thanks all! At this point, we're leaning towards getting some colorful cichlids to put in it. The plants are fake, which I hate, but the maintenance will be much easier. The lights are the ones from Ebay and yes, they are BRIGHT!!! The fans you see on the canopy are the only fans. I wish they were towards to wall but I can hide them somehow on down the road. The lights do have fans. And yes, the dogs love it, especially when they hear that flushing, gurlging sound from the standpipe! Capone, the dog in the pic, it always by my side (in my way) when I do anything with the tanks. If I could only train him to do with water changes.... LOL

I like it a lot! What seller from ebay did you get the lights? What bulbs? Anyways, can't wait to see more when its cleared and got some fishies swimming.

Thanks Smirky! I got the lights from fishman911. He seems to have a nice selection and I'm very happy with the one I got. Here's the description:
New units have two cooling fans on top for optimal performance, mounting legs, 8-LED Blue Moon lights (4-Duals), and 3 power cords for timer use. This unit comes with 4 - 65 Watt bulbs - (2) 12,000K daylights and (2) 03 true actinics. We include all bulbs for free.

Can you not turn the canopy 180* so the fans are toward the wall? Is there wood on that side of the canopy?

There is wood on that side, but the canopy is cut to sit below the top of the tank on three sides. The fourth, which is towards the wall now, is cut shorter, so it would look dorky. I want to do something with the end facing outward as it's kinda plain and blah, so I'll address the fans at that time. Trust me... It's gonna be great! :exactly:

when did you get that tank???

what size is that?????

tsunderl
01-26-2008, 10:06 PM
Brandy, the fans are 5 inch squared. Any idea of price???

Rey, thanks! I got the tank Christmas Eve. Someone on DFWMAS had posted it. It's a 180 acrylic, 4ft x 3ft x 3ft, and so far, I'm lovin' it! It's going to turn out nice when I get some movement in there! It's got a nice cloudy appearance to it, so I'm guessing another week and it should be ready for fishies!!!

Hubby and I went fish shopping last Saturday and came home with new additions for the 180. We got four electric blue haps, four yellow labs, and four aceis. Hubby did all the picking out! They are 1-2", so they have a ways to go. It will be fun watching them grow and color up, not to mention develop their personalities.

Ah reminds me of when I started my 215, started with 3 labs and 3 acei's about that same size.. They grow up so fast..:hehe:

I dunno, why don't you call him and ask him?

When I bought fish from him John brought them up, when I held the first round of fish for him, he had someone else meet me. The last time I held fish for him, he couldn't find anyone to meet me...

That tells me he doesn't get up here...

bra8ndy8

ohh well I know raul won't come up here....but he'll ship. I met him in houston once for mine....but I was coming home from galveston.

Dang, I thought you were going to go with a planted community tank?

I wouldn't have suggested those powerful lights if I knew it was gonna be a cichlid tank .

How's the tank doing at this point? Any updated pictures?
