Does it need an external pump?

Possibly
For my 125 (2-O's, 1-JD) I use a Garden Treasures waterfall pump model PP1300 (1300gph) with a Garden Treasures pressurized pond filter model PF1600UV both bought from Lowes. The filter has the back wash outlet, two sponges and bio-balls. In all the filter is a little smaller than a five gallon bucket. As far as noise it is very quite. I learned a lesson with HOB's and sand the expensive way that is when I went with the pond setup.

I wondered about that but if it sits inside the unit I wonder if it will still fit.
