This fish when I bought it was in a tank labeled Misc. Africans. It was cheap so I bought it to be the first fish to add to my tank and see if it was ready for livestock. I had/have no idea what species it is. It was previously a brillant blue color with six black vertical bars. Now its blue color is starting to fade to a tan/yellow color.
Can anyone tell me what species it is?
Thanks!

Likely no telling. Often many of those "misc. Africans" tanks will has all manner of hybrids.

I know thats true, I was just hoping that there was a strain that prevailed over the other and was noticeable.
Thanks for the link Dave, while sorting through the various photos with that one species it does appear that there could be a close resemblance based on the color transformation.
Thanks Guys!

As greeneyed said....its Metria. lombardoi aka 'Kenyi'
They all start blue and the males turn yellow.
