new "beta" bowl thingee

i just bought a thing that looks like half a fishbowl that hangs on the wall for a betta fish...what is your take on these? is it cruel to the fish? what else would live in one of these comfortably?:noidea::study:

I don't know if I would call it cruel. Bettas' nature habitat are none moving swamps with low oxygen saturations. They actually have a lung organ so they can breathe air.

If it were me, I'd give 'em a filtered aquarium. I think they're supposed to show better colors in a filtered aquarium too.
