Well, the wife said it would be fine to build a pond and I have a few questions for you guys. My plan is to dig a hole and line it with cinder blocks then concrete the inside of the blocks. If I concrete all the pond, would fiberglass be overkill or just not needed? Anyone made a pond by using cinder blocks and concrete? Will the concrete shift overtime, leaving me with cracks or will the pond settle and be fine?

I plan on making the pond 6ft deep by 8ft long by 4 or 5 foot wide(1400 gallons I believe). Any ideas are welcome. The pond will have shelves on the ends(for plants) and will be used for cichlids.
I thought about just making a fiberglass pond but I would not trust my kid around it. He loves throwing stuff in water and I believe concrete would be more durable than the fiberglass.

I am excited and will have a place to throw all my fry for growout!!! I can't wait to be able to walk out back, pick up a perfect taiwan reef or perfect peacock and transfer him to my show tank. That is going to be just awesome!!!

I am going to use a trench digger, I am LAZY!!! :D
That is also why I decided to try the cinder block and concrete method. I can keep the actual pond square for an easy build and will change the surface shape with creative rock work.
