what brand fish food do you find best for your african cichlids?

Thats pretty much wide open. It depends on the species and what they like for the most part. Live foods are always loved. However I had no problem feeding Kens cichlid flake out in a hurry. They devoured it. Oscars love Oscar Show. Nothing seems to do them quite as good. Bichirs love scallops, which I need to feed mine now. lol My severums love dried meal worms. They all eat crays for the most part it just depends on the size of the cray. Tetra mix works but not as great as Kens does. Arent you Oowls friend?

Malawi Cichlids are prone to bloat if you feed the wrong stuff (as are certain Tangs). I always stick with a spirulina based food. For a pellet-Hikari Excel. For flake, a good quality spirulina flake is best. If its cheap-its not good more than likely. OSI is considered the Rolls Royce of flake foods and it can be found online easily.

I know you'll get a lot of Dainichi and NLS answers as well. Im not a fan of the latter.

I feed my S. Americans Hikari Bio-Gold almost exclusively and frozen mysis and blood worms on occasion.
For my Africans I feed the Bio-Gold and Ocean Nutrition Vegi pellets. They devour both. I've NEVER had them refuse the food. My tank/fish are still young, but they are chubby and growing like weeds so I think its working pretty good.
I'm curious about that NLS, I've seen that food mentioned alot, even on other forums.
