What paint (brand and type) would be safe for the inside of a tank?

Sigmar, I use Kiltz on the inside. it seals the wood and it's white pigment for easy cleaning =)

I also painted the DIY light I made as well, since that will definitely face more humidity than the bottom of the tank. but if you use a sump, I def would want to seal it up b/c wood + humidity = twisting, and that's not good when you have 120 gallon of water on top!

Sigma: are you still interested in those lights

Actually I have some long cylindrical glass containers that would make great pleco caves but their clear. Want to paint them black. may also spread a layer of silicone on em , roll em in black sand.May be Deltad refresh my memory

Krylon Fusion Paint is safe inside the tank. I have used it many times on PVC, plastic and etc. Just let it cure for 2 days before putting in the tank

oooooh, you want to do it inside your tank, I was thinking of the stand for some reason.

anyway, I think the better route would be to get some PCV pipe, whatever size you want, they have it up to 5" or something, but I imagine 3" would suffice for your application.

wash it well then smother it with silicone and apply the same gravel you have in your tank on top of it. and voila, you have yourself a cave that matches your scape

well the glass containers were free, its those religious candle holders you see in stores painted with religious figures, cept these aren't painted just clear. about 6 inches long , 3 inches diameter. figured I'd make good use of them.

ah I see, PCV aren't that expensive either. I just bought a 2" 10foot pipe for $3!

I'm just weary putting glass in there and having something fall on it and break it.

put I don't see why you can't put silicone on it and cover it with black sand or anything you want

With the breed I'm looking to work with rough insides = ruptured egg sacks

this glass is pretty tough and they're 12" long....they're cleaned up and we ran 'em thru dishwasher too....free is cheaper than pvc Duc :D

i'm gonna take one, smear silicone on it and roll it in fine gravel and see what it looks like....might be cool...I also have some black sand so I'll do 2...see ya on the DIY thread roflmao

x2 got the satin black dried and ready to go :D.

The quality was top notch and covered several different surfaces (metal, plastic, power cord, etc.) pretty well in two light coats.

Another vote for Krylon Fusion. I've used it on my diy overflow pvc and it worked great. Just be sure to let it cure for a few days.
