My Bn's laid an egg clutch and IM SO STOKED!!!!!! It's been a little while since they bred, and am glad. My last clutch of fry were eaten by my clown loaches.... Ita always weird looking at one of your females look emaciated when 12 hours ago she was a portly little gal!!! I'll keep you posted!!

A little trick to keep the eggs from getting pushed out of the cave, prop the front end of the cave up about an inch. Also, I have never had much luck using pvc for caves, the eggs just don't seem to stick to it as well in case that is what you are using. Your male should block off the cave and not let any other fish in once the eggs are laid, you cave could be too big. I use terra cotta tubes with one end pinched closed, they are about 2" OD. Also, I do have brown fry available always, 1.5" for $2. Got albino regular and long fin growing out that will be ready in a month or two.

well the female that pushed them out is considerably larger than him....elevating the cave is a good idea, and the cave is probably a shade too big but he should grow into it...

okay so they laid eggs again, big female is pushing them out again but this time i caught her in the act and ran her off. i moved the cave into a tupperware bowl in the meantime with the male....hes pretty beat up hopefully they can hold up for a couple more days until they hatch....im buying a five gallon tomorrow...breeding is beging to happen more often I just need to help keep the eggs isolated from damage the big girl does to them

I used Airsupply to put them in the mood. I also used cooler water for about two weeks, tank temp was arounf 75-76F.I usually keep it around 80-81F fed mixture of carnivore tabs and algea waffers. Slate caves inclined like Bristle nosed dudes advice helped keep the eggs in the caves. The caves were snug enough for just two.

Hey if you catch them pushing out the eggs again, you can always pull em and use an egg tumbler like you would for cichlid eggs, it has worked for me in the past.

well this time I did "force" a dry season to spur them to breed and made it a week after they had finished up the egg sacs. I have no idea what happened just one day they all started to die off...

well I kept 2m-3f in the 55 and had eggs once but it wasn't until I actuallt tried to breed them that I got babies in both!
