I bought a 20 regular and a 20 long and want POG to build me a stacking wood stand for them. I have tried googling for some plans or some photos, but haven't found anything that looks good. I want a nice stained and stacked stand to hold these two tanks. I am also considering buying a storage-type self-standing shelving unit if I can find one that would look decent in my animal room. Does anyone have any plans or ideas? I don't want POG to just throw some 2x4's together. :D

Exactly...we can't keep it simple for POG...

Thanks! You know, the more I look at this the more I think I could have him build something like it but with more space between the shelves. Anything that will make him roll his eyes and cuss me behind my back, lol! :D

I wouldn't mind helping you design one. I have done several double stands for large tanks so smaller ones shouldn't be a problem. I am a draftsman so I can draw it up, get you measurements, etc. let me know if you are interested.

:D birds of a feather
I've drawn a couple already... brb with an update to include :D
(here's one of them)

looking for another I have...

(those are 20 gallon tanks - adjust dims for larger/smaller size)
Of course these are just skeletons, which you would add a finish (like stained or painted plywood) if you wanted a more "displayable" feel.
I think I had another one designed (as in drawing like above), but can't find it now. I'll post the picture of the finished stand, though.
Update to come...
90 gallon on bottom, 55 gallon on top.

90 installed

55 was never installed (built a new stand for the 90 gal only).

Wish I felt better, cause then I could give POG a break and just weld you a stand that would work for you.

Wow! I've been gone a couple of days and come back to all this help! Andrew, I will have to get your drawings printed out for George. I know I don't want anything that tall, but I guess we could cut down the height and use it. Love the photos, too! I need more photos of a stacking stand to help me visualize the set-up. Stickzula, I am interested in what you come up with, if you have the time. Thanks so much for your help! Tim: You just get your butt better so someday I can get you to weld me a stacking stand, okay! Thanks, Mr. BBQ Man! :)

Here is a rendering of a double that I designed for a guy on a different forum. He wanted a 220 over a 125. He said that he doesn't always have something in the 125, I don't know how that is possible but . . . . so I designed bifold doors that are on a runner so they can be opened up and slid back into the stand and out of the way. He also wanted to use a pendant light so no canopy for this one. To my knowledge he never built it, which kinda sucks because I put a lot into the design, even got him pn's, cut lists, assembly instructions, etc. Anyway here's the rendering.6863

Wow! That is exactly what I am looking for! With the drawing you provided, I can visualize how it will look. I will have him provide ample room on the sides and back for the pumps, etc. I will make sure he creates enough room above the bottom tank so I can get to it to do waterchanges. You are awesome! Thanks so much!

Thanks so much! I recently had POG haul out an old oak entertainment center from our house because it was so 1980's. Well, before I could show him your stand design, he had already converted it to a multi-tank stand. Why I didn't see its' potential before, I cannot imagine. However, I need another set-up in my home office and he PROMISES me he will build one with your design soon. I will post up photos when he does. :)
