I'm wanting to re do the mess I have for a sump and refugium under my 75 gallon oscar tank. Right now i have a store bought sump siphoning over into a 10 gallon tank with java moss then the return pump is in one of the quarantine mesh bag things.
I have a 30 long tank or a 40 breeder I'm wanting to make the new one out of. I have the glass from a 10 gallon tank and a 3x3 piece of thin plexi glass to build with. Does anyone know of a brilliant design to use for the project? I'd like to keep it where I can put the sump on a larger tank after i have the funds for one, I can't figure out how to still be able to use my bioballs on it so any help on this would be great

are you trying to do something like a freshwater refugium?

Well i moved here from Houston area a while back and this was one of the best Sump Ideas i had ran across while i was there. Cheap and Effective sump.
Instead of a tub you could use a tank

hmm.... there's definately an idea there.... I think instead of the bucket I'll modify the current wet/dry to drain into either the 40 or the 30long sitting inside the tank like the bucket is in the link. I might cut the side off of it or build a new tower out of the glass. I'm cheap, but ocd on looks so I want it looking store bought or close to it
Instead of using the pvc to mak a stand, just set the wet/dry on top of a cut to the right height milk crate like gallons of milk come in, that way I can set it as high as possible and still be able to get the top off of it
Any idea on how to put in baffles to get the water level higher in it for using plants as part of the filtration?

Well if I did it with a taller than 5 gallon bucket that I have and still use the milk crate I could raise it all the way up to the bottom of the tank and forget the baffles and just move the crate when i need to get into the bucket then just let the water sit where it may
