Getting my new tank setup and wanting some info from you all. New tank is a 96x36x30 450gallon with a hammerhead sump and two Ehei
2260s for clear and clean water. This is the list of fish I like. Which ones and how many do you think I should go with? Info from anyone that has had a combo of any of these would be great.
Texas 12" Herichthys cyanoguttatus
? Red Festea 20" Cichlasoma festae, amphilophus festae
Jaguar 14" Parachromis managuensis
Oscar 14" Astronotus ocellatus
LM Bass 20"**
Peacock Bass 20"*Cichla ocellaris *
? Wolf cichlid - Parachromis dovii 20"+
Redtail Giant Gouramis - Osphronemus laticlavius 20"+*
Flagtail dprochilodus 12"

Well seems like a great list.
I guess all i have to say is good luck.
Those fish will most likely rip each other apart, and you will never have a balance. Not to mention the many months it could take to find all of these. My 14inch male jag would kill anything. What do you think a 15inch dovii would do? Your not going to find a dovii over 20 inches or close to 18. They are super rare, and most don't reach that. Btw the dovii would simply destroy all the fish in the tank.
That is usually why people house them as smaller juvies together. Your in the big boy leagues, they don't play nice anymore.
I would say roll with the Dats cichla and aro if you want the "pred" tank. Those fish usually flow really well with each other. Otherwise mixing a stock that can actually live together without tearing each other apart would be smart.
I really like this list, a lot. But it wont work.
With your tank size i would personally raise a pack of black arowanas. Start a breeding project and retire in 7 years when a mated pair comes of them and they produce fry
This list is a dream, for many of reasons:hehe:

Bad combo. Jags will wreck most everything else. Skip all the cichlids other than pbass, they're overdone.

Didn't even see the dovii on the list, very very bad plan.

As awsome as the LM Bass would be, it's not legal to keep gamefish such as that in an aquarium. Time to play don't ask don't tell with those.

Good info mark off the Jag and Wolf.

Guess I should have stated I will be starting with 2-3" fish.

Won't help, they're gonna wreck each other within the first year.

Yea it will work for a while, but then you will be replacing fish because they will all get to a tempermental size in 6 months like austin said.
MFK has some great examples of fish that will live together. If i was you i would drop the cichlid idea, maybe except for oscars. Bass, arowanas, dats, catfish, bichirs, clown loaches, maybe 1 cichlid, giant gourmi, exotic large plecos and maybe some catfish.
Best idea is to have a middle fish, bottom, and top. Those tank usually look the best and turn out the best.
another good idea could be a serverum/ gourmi tank with lots of geos and a mbu puffer that is like 22inches big. Those tanks are always stunning.
A large pair of aros with discuss and a planted bottom would be a reallly cool tank as well.
BTW did anyone see the gulper catfish at fish gallery? They are badass, but its fish gallery so of course they are 150$ .... lol

That's not a bad price for here, I might have to look, been wanting one and have the tank space now.

Yep. I've seen a 6" put down a 10" severum. Crazy bastards, I've got a 20L I can keep him alone in that's already plumbed into the drip. I think they're hillarious.

Festae are Beautiful fish (might be saying that cuz i love the fish ^^) Texas cichlids are nice too but when either of those 2 go into breeding will protect the fry until all other fish submit and push to top of tank or they Die. just a little info on those 2 breeds. Also exCichlosoma Festae is a known bully breed that will sometimes pick on other fish just for the heck of it. But there are those kinds of fish in all breeds.

I had a wolf cichlid once. He would corner the rest of my monsters and he was half their size.
