But you are right the music does suck.

in the upper tank there is a bubble disc or wall or something like that.

I wonder if there is a problem with all that air gathering up there, or if they have some kind of purge valve

What keeps the water up there?

Simplified fish tank. Volume: Top tank 130 litres. Bottom tank 120 litres.Submersible biological filter in lower tank helps to maintain clear water. Water change and massive cleaning is minimized. Cleaning is also make simple. Partial change of water and removing of dirt particle, if require, is carried out in the lower tank that include feeding. All rocks and plants in top tank are placed 12cm above bottom tank to allow easy access should siphoning of dirt is needed. Rocks need not have to be removed while cleaning is in progress.Water current in top tank is activated by air pump.Fish able to move from bottom tank to top tank without restriction. Mini waterfall in lower tank is to provide extra oxygenation of the water. The open bottom design allows replacement of plants and decoration as often as you like.Note: Water level will stay with or without power supply.Only partial change of water is required. For more video search for FISHFREEDOM. Nothing against the instrument of musical death.

Pretty cool.

yeah these are pretty cool...

the cichlid tank music isn't too bad...it reminds of some of the jungle beats from back in the "partying" days...

Ok I found out how it's done...

You have to pull a vacuum on the upper tank. Heaven help you if you ever get a hole in the vacuum line or loose power (the volume of the upper tank will empty into the lower tank and then overflow onto the floor).

I definitely might have to try this on my 33 :D

Gonna share?

That sounds about how I was thinking it had to be done.

With the vacuum in the upper tank, how are they adding air bubbles without eventually adding enough to relieve the vacuum?

kewlkatdady

This says that it's fine without power...

there is no way that I'd have a volume of water like that dependant on a simple vacuum hose.

It's got to be something else.

With the vacuum in the upper tank, how are they adding air bubbles without eventually adding enough to relieve the vacuum?

Simply make the vacuum equal enough to hold up the water and account for the air bubbles. If the water = 20 lbs of vacuum and the air bubbles offset 10 lbs of vacuum, simply have 30 lbs or more of vacuum.

And there is a fine line... too much vacuum and you're sucking up water = not good.

Yeah, I found another way... fill your sink with water, take a clear glass and put it into the sink (completely below the water line). Now turn the glass upside-down (;) bottom of the glass upwards while the glass is full of water), then lift the glass outta the sink until just before the opening of the glass reaches the water level.

The water will stay in the glass.

One YouTube video had a guy doing this and when he filled the glass with water, he left an air pocket in it. He said, mount the air pump, tubing and airstone into the glass (or "upper fish tank") before you put it into the sink (or "lower fish tank") and then you'll have air pumping in to the upper tank to circulate it, but you won't be adding any extra, outside air.

From what I can see, this should work (except getting the air pump wet, or the air pump coming unmounted and falling into the tank and electrocuting the fish).

Yeah, I still like this idea better though. Click on the photo link.

Dang Amon, that's pretty cool (but it's gonna be a lot work to do all of that).

That is cool Amon.....but man those are some big fish....and some little tanks for all that work and effort!

That's :exactly: what I was thinking.

Seem to be some sort of display (temporary) for a museum or something.

Yeah if you want some really useful ideas along these lines, then do a google search for "fish bridge"
There was a fairly involved discussion about 3 or 4 years ago on fishgeeks about it. It's a really great way to join 2 tanks together, even better concept for applications involving canister filters with inlet/outlet hoses in separate tanks.

Another idea I had... put a python between your filter return pump and the tank.

The tee on the python connection makes a vacuum and it's no big deal if it sucks up water ;)

Yep, just thinking of some of these new houses with the giant atrium areas... you could build a huge stack of tanks like a giant wedding cake...

No way in hell I'm staying in this apt for that much longer. And only if the tanks come with the house. :hehe:

LOL Only if we can wait that long! We're getting so sick of apt living. It has it's perks but the downside of not being able to have tanks in our apt and feeling "illegal" really sucks! :o
