Just how long does the "algae phase" last? I'm hopeful that one day, my tanks will be rid of it... And the _()*@&$ conical snails!!!

BTW, the tank looks great. :)

I saw the nasty algae you are referring to at the SB party. What did you do to get rid of it?Just wait it out?How long? Most of my tanks never got that algae but one does and its buggin the crap out of me.

Add more light and wait it out...a timer and staggered photo periods also help. Eventually the plants will out grow the majority of the algae...you will always have a little here and there but not the blooms. UV sterilization helps kill algae and frequent water changes are a must...for algae control and the general well-being of everyone fish and plants. Jeff, as you said, it looked pretty nasty at the g2g and that was that? About a month and a half ago? Takes about 8-10 weeks for a newly setup tank to establish itself as far as the plants vs. algae goes.

Visited Howard's fish room yesterday and loved it. So many planted tanks with such a variety of plants. Awesome and Thanks!
