so i brought the little lady home yesterday, and after paying a bit more attention than i did at the store, realized she had eggs im guessing under her tail. they look like little black spots with clear bodies. she keeps doin this fanning thing.. is there anything special i need to do to keep the babies alive? shes in with 5 guppies and 4 zebra danios.

Give them lots of hiding spots. I don't think the guppies will bother them but the danios might.

ok. heres a pic of the tank they are in. the piece of wood is hollow for the most part. i threw in two small flower pots before i knew it. would a couple bushy plants be good? oh and there is a spotted pleco in there also around 2 or 3 inches

plants will be your best bet for survival. also holey rock with tons of holes would be good

Congrats on getting one with eggs! Better make sure they cannot crawl out of the top, they are escape artists. x 2 what KK said!

I found one in my daughters room one morning. She came screaming into my room and got me out of bed....
I couldnt help but laugh.
They will eat fish and they will eat each other as well. If your babies survive when they get big enough they will kill each other if you don't have enough room.

My male killed off and ate the babies, had sex with the female then killed her. My Bengal exacted vengeance by pulling out the male and playing with him until he died. I hope you have a better experience than I did. :(

How long does it take them to hatch?

I murdered a good sized one in a fit of rage once. He was eating really sweet fish and I knew nothing about him when I brought him home. I took him from the feeder fish tank at the store I worked in. I paid like 27 cents for it and someone had told me he wouldn't eat the fish because they were too fast.:hehe: Ohhhh the beginner days...
